  • Patent number: 10694237
Abstract: Systems and methods for improved efficiency in content streaming and downloading. The system enables a first list including a plurality of user equipment (UE) in communication with a wireless base station (WBS) to be identified based on the likelihood that each UE will download a piece of content. The process starts in response to a UE requesting the content from the WBS or some other triggering event. The system can use the content and subscriber history from the plurality of UEs along with machine learning, or some other algorithm, to identify likely candidates. The system can calculate a similarity score, or similar, comparing the requested content to the content history for each of the plurality of UEs. The system can add each UE with a sufficiently high similarity score to a second list. The content can be broadcast to all UEs on the second list in a single broadcast transmission.

  • Patent number: 10681391
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for improving interactions with and between computers in content generating, searching, hosting and/or providing systems supported by or configured with personal computing devices, servers and/or platforms. The systems interact to identify and retrieve data within or across platforms, which can be used to improve the quality of data used in processing interactions between or among processors in such systems. The disclosed systems and methods automatically analyze a live streaming media file, and identify portions of the media that are highlights. The content classified as a highlight can be shared across social media platforms, and indexed for searching respective to attributes of the video content. The streaming and highlight media content is renderable in a novel, modified video player that enables variable playback speeds for how content is classified, and enables on-demand selections of specific content portions and adjustable rendering displays during streaming.

  • Patent number: 10681395
Abstract: In some implementations, a system is capable of intelligently generating customized multimedia content streams that are distributed to different groups of users. The system generates the customized content streams such that the initial and terminating portions of the streams are shared between each of the content streams. The system adjusts the intermediate portions of the streams to, for example, the viewing preferences of each user group using alternate forms of content. In this regard, the customized content streams that have both customized portions and shared portions to provide a standardized yet adaptive viewing experience for all users.

  • Patent number: 10671151
Abstract: A method, computer program product, and system for mitigating disorientation of a user transitioning out of a digital reality session. A user login credentials is received. A start digital reality session command is received. User behavior inputs associated with the digital reality session are monitor. In response to analyzing the user behavior inputs, a behavior risk rating associated with the user behavior inputs is generated. An ending event to the digital reality session is detected. A leakage length value based on the generated behavior risk rating is generated. An expected leakage length value based on the analyzed behavior associated with the user and a user profile associated with the user is determined. A leakage risk value based on the behavior risk rating and leakage length value is assigned. In response to the leakage risk value being above a threshold, the digital reality session is modified.

  • Patent number: 10560756
Abstract: A new television broadcast model called a Broadcast Market Exchange (BMX) eliminates the inefficiency in spectrum usage, providing maximum flexibility in delivering content through either VHF (for fixed location receiving devices) or UHF (optimized for mobile receiving devices) transmission/propagation. In conjunction with the BMX, a wireless communications system architecture is provided to enable a broadcast augmentation channel. The augmentation channel provides supplementation of the Quality of Service (QoS) of a one way User Datagram Protocol (UDP) delivery environment. The augmentation channel may be comprised of one or more physical delivery mechanisms (wired or wireless), but can be effectively unified for increasing QoS and or scalable levels of service (additional essence) to improve the user experience.

  • Patent number: 10547911
Abstract: Devices and methods are provided for generating reminder notifications pertaining to time-sensitive media content. In various embodiments, the method includes the step or process of establishing whether time-sensitive media content is desirably viewed by an end user of the media receiver. If establishing that time-sensitive media content is desirably viewed by the end user, it is further determined whether a reminder notification should be generated for the time-sensitive media content at a specified time relative to a change in availability of the time-sensitive media content from a media content provider. If further determining that a reminder notification should be generated for the time-sensitive media content, the reminder notification is generated at the specified time; e.g., the media receiver may generate the reminder notification itself or transmit instructions to a user-carried electronic device to generate the notification reminder.

  • Patent number: 10516908
Abstract: A system and method for providing bitrate control for delivering media content to a plurality of virtual display (VD) screens presented in a virtual reality (VR) environment effectuated by a VR device of a subscriber based on detecting a movement in a point of view with respect the VD screens' placement within the VR environment, wherein each VD screen is configured to receive a media content channel. Responsive to detecting the movement, angular distance of each of the VD screens relative to a reference axis is computed. Weights to each of the media content channels may be assigned or updated based on the angular distance of the corresponding VD screens relative to the reference axis. Media content channels on the VD screens outside the subscriber's field of view may be time-shifted.

  • Patent number: 10484735
Abstract: A method and system for synchronizing two or more media streams, generated by different sources. An identifier generator generates identifiers with unique sequence numbers and a unique media identifier in relation to a second media stream generated by second media server. The generated identifiers are supplied to an encoder and an identifier storage. In the identifier storage a broadcaster stores an associated URL (first media server address & content) with a particular identifier. The identifiers and the second media stream are encoded by the encoder into a carrier which is recorded or broadcasted. Play-out of the recorded or broadcasted is accomplished by feeding the encoded carrier to a decoder, which decodes the identifiers and the second media stream. The decoded identifier is received by a first device that retrieves the stored associated URL for the particular identifier and subsequently request first media server for the first media stream indicated by the associated URL.

  • Patent number: 10433004
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a reception apparatus, a reception method, and a program for generating a time stamp with a simple circuit structure that is realized at low cost. In one example, a reception apparatus includes a reception unit, an obtaining unit, a time stamp increment value specifying unit, a time stamp calculating unit and a time stamp adding unit. The reception unit receives a data stream formed of a series of packets. The obtaining unit obtains a transmission parameter from the received data stream. The time stamp increment value specifying unit specifies a time stamp increment value corresponding to the obtained transmission parameter. The time stamp calculating unit updates the time stamp by adding the specified time stamp increment value to a previous time stamp, and the time stamp adding unit adds the updated time stamp to the packets configuring the data stream.
