  • Patent number: 10924809
Abstract: Described herein include systems, methods, and non-transitory computer readable media related to display of user-specific navigation screen upon start of a media content display system. A system comprises a playback engine and an interactive programming guide engine. The playback engine is configured to present media content through a display device. The interactive programming guide engine is configured to generate a user profile based on user interaction with the media content presented by the playback engine, transmit the user profile to an external system, and responsive to the transmitted user profile, receive data of user-specific content options that are generated based on the user profile. The interactive programming guide engine is further configured to generate a user-specific navigation screen based on the data of the received user-specific content options, and cause the user-specific navigation screen to be displayed on the display device upon start of the system.

  • Patent number: 10917682
Abstract: A method and system for synchronizing two or more media streams, generated by different sources (210, 220). An identifier generator 200 generates identifiers 600 with unique sequence numbers and a unique media identifier in relation to a second media stream generated by second media server 220. The generated identifiers are supplied to an encoder 230 and an identifier storage 205. In the identifier storage 205 a broadcaster stores an associated URL (first media server address & content) with a particular identifier. The identifiers and the second media stream 620A are encoded by the encoder 230 into a carrier (620M) which is recorded or broadcasted. Play-out of the recorded or broadcasted is accomplished by feeding the encoded carrier to a decoder 300, which decodes the identifiers and the second media stream 620B.

  • Patent number: 10893330
Abstract: A media presentation and distribution system communicatively coupled to a client device, which handles enablement of a client-side dynamic presentation of at least one non-programming media asset along with programming media content. The client device receives a first media stream of the programming media content in response to a request, associated with at least one user preference for the programming media content, to the media presentation and distribution system. The client device identifies at least one tag in the programming media content and transmits at least one event opportunity point for selection to the media presentation distribution system. Based on the selection, the client device modifies a display view of the client device for a defined duration, and presents the at least one non-programming media asset, from a second media stream for the defined duration, concurrently with the programming media content over the modified display view of the client device.

  • Patent number: 10893303
Abstract: A content streaming system and methodology for facilitating the management of content streaming. A content delivery service provides streaming content that is organized according to a set of encoded content chunks. An encoding component generates encoded chunk data for transmission to requestors. A content delivery management component can determine configuration information that indicates the size of the content chunks. The content delivery management component can then receive encoded data but will not replicate and propagate the received encoded data to distribution endpoints of the content delivery service until complete content chunks are ready for transmission. A video playback application processes the set of encoded content chunks to dynamically form a content segment for live video streaming.

  • Patent number: 10820046
Abstract: A system and method for using a controllable appliance to report an inoperable state of a controlling device. The appliance is caused to repeatedly determine, at a first predetermined timed interval, if a wireless notification signal, repeatedly transmitted by the controlling device at a second predetermined timed interval, has been received from the controlling device. When the wireless notification signal has not been received from the controlling device within the first predetermined timed interval, the appliance is caused to issue a status notification that the controlling device is in an inoperable state.

  • Patent number: 10818087
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a process that determines a field-of-view of an immersive video viewer, determines present orientation of the immersive video viewer at a first time, and predicts a future orientation of the immersive video viewer occurring at a second time based on the present orientation of the immersive video viewer. A subsegment of an entire immersive video frame corresponding to the second time is identified based on the predicted orientation of the immersive video viewer and the field-of-view. Wireless transmission of the subsegment of the entire immersive video frame to the immersive video viewer is facilitated for presentation at the immersive video viewer at the second time, without requiring transmission of the entire immersive video frame. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10820048
Abstract: Systems and methods for identifying which video segment is being displayed on a screen of a television system. The video segment is identified by deriving data from the television signals, the derived data being indicative of the video segment being displayed on file screen. This feature can be used to extract a viewer's reaction (such as changing the channel) to a specific video segment (such as an advertisement) and reporting the extracted information as metrics. The systems and methods may further provide contextually targeted content to the television system. The contextual targeting is based on not only identification of the video segment being displayed, but also a determination concerning the playing time or offset time of the particular portion of the video segment being currently displayed.

  • Patent number: 10728129
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for identification and characterization of latency in a content delivery network. In one embodiment, interaction of users with content is recorded via the collection of a plurality of tuning records; the latency is then utilize to adjust the timing on the tuning records to account for lapses in time for sending these from between entities of the network and the user devices, and for processing occurring at the devices as required. The latency is determined by taking into account an experimentally or manufacturer-derived device specific latency component, and a network latency component. The network latency component is determined in one variant by sending a message to the device from the network requesting a current system time (or other response). Once the timing of the tuning records is adjusted, these tuning records may be relied upon as being accurate representations of subscriber interaction with content on a second-by-second basis.
