The in-vessel control rod drive mechanism includes a control rod drive mechanism for regulating and a control rod drive mechanism for shutdown provided at an upper or lower space of a reactor core to insert or withdraw a regulating rod and a shutdown rod into/from the reactor core based on an operation state of the nuclear reactor, wherein the control rod drive mechanism for regulating and the control rod drive mechanism for shutdown are alternately arranged in the vertical direction. Therefore, a space of containment can be minimized due to the installation of the in-vessel control rod drive mechanism, and thus a rod ejection accident can be prevented, and a loss-of-coolant accident can be reduced.

    Abstract: An environmentally sequestered nuclear spent fuel pool in one embodiment includes sidewalls and a base slab that confine a water impoundment. The pool includes fuel racks containing spent fuel assemblies which heat the water via radioactive decay. A dual liner system enclosing the pool forms an impervious barrier providing redundant provisions for preventing leakage of contaminated pool water into the environment. An interstitial space is formed between the liners which may be maintained at sub-atmospheric pressures by a vacuum pump system that evacuates the space. By maintaining the pressure in the space at a negative pressure with corresponding boiling point less than the temperature of the pool water, any leakage through the inner-most liner into the interstitial space will vaporize and be extracted via the pump for signaling a potential leak in the liner system.

The metal thin film and surfaces of the frame portion and the island portions are subjected to hot isostearic pressing (HIP) bonding to seal the target material onto the recessed portion by using the metal thin film.

    Abstract: Methods and Systems for extrapolating wavefields while avoiding disruptions due to spatial aliasing are disclosed. Pressure wavefields measured with pressure sensors and vertical and horizontal velocity wavefields measured with three-axial motions sensors may be spatially aliased in at least one horizontal direction. The pressure wavefield and/or the vertical velocity wavefield are decomposed into one of an up-going wavefield and a down-going wavefield. The up-going or down-going wavefield is extrapolated using an extrapolator that depends on components of a slowness vector. In order to avoid disruptions in the extrapolated wavefield due to spatial aliasing, the components of the slowness vector are calculated from the measured pressure wavefield and the two horizontal velocity wavefields.

    Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to geophysical surveying and data processing using streamers at different depths. In one embodiment, a method includes obtaining geophysical data that is specific to a geophysical formation and representative of: a particle motion signal recorded using sensors at a first depth, a first pressure signal recorded using sensors towed at the first depth, and a second pressure signal recorded using sensors towed at a second, greater depth. In this embodiment the method includes modifying a low-frequency range of the particle motion signal using particle motion information estimated based on the second pressure signal. The modified particle motion signal may then be used to separate up-going and down-going wavefields. In some embodiments, obtaining geophysical data is performed by towing a first streamer at the first depth and a second streamer at the second depth. In some embodiments, the second streamer does not include particle motion sensors.
