  • Patent number: 4537089
Abstract: Reverse tilt steering wheel, i.e., the pivot point is not located down on the steering column below the wheel. The reverse tilt hereof is accomplished by concealed ramp track and track roller follower mechanism locating the pivot on the column axis, as and when extended, to a point located thereon which is above the wheel, to wit, projected completely without and beyond the structure. The resulting characteristic of the wheel is that it executes combined relative motion, coordinated so as to adjust in position along an arc concave with respect to the operator while simultaneously controlled in tilt to avoid change of wheel angularity from its normal position squarely facing the operator.

  • Patent number: 4537095
Abstract: A low coast shift (LCS) valve and a low coast shift control (LCC) valve are disposed coaxially with a shift valve, and a spring is disposed between the LCS valve and LCC valve. In the range in which engine braking occurs, the LCC valve is at first displaced by the line pressure toward the LCS valve. Displacement of the LCC valve is transmitted by way of the spring to the LCS valve and the shift valve. This displacement of the LCC valve is limited by a stopper, so that displacement of the LCS valve and the shift valve following the displacement of LCC valve are dependent on the relationship of the spring with the governor pressure. When displacement of the shift valve has reached a given distance, a port opens. Since the line pressure from the port is much higher than the governor pressure, the shift valve is instantaneously downshifted as soon as the aforesaid port has opened.

  • Patent number: 4532828
Abstract: A system permitting a wide range of distribution, transmission, and reduction of rotary motion by means of a double epicyclic train. Two crown wheel plates face one another and are freely rotatable, one on a driving shaft and the other on coaxial driven shaft. The shafts also rigidly mount two facing inner planetary conical pinions that are coaxial and concentric with the respective crown wheel plates. Sandwiched between the plates are two sets of satellite pinions; the first set meshing with the crown wheel plates and the second set meshing with the planetary conical pinions. Both sets of satellite pinions freely rotate on cruciform axles. The cruciform axles, in turn, rotate freely about the coaxial driving and driven shafts. The system may be adapted to provide an automatic speed change gear system or, alternatively, a friction clutch system.

  • Patent number: 4532824
Abstract: An automobile automatic transmission control device consists of a sector fixed to a vehicle. A control lever is pivoted to the sector about a fixed axis. A plurality of lockout notches are formed on an edge of the sector along a locus centered on said fixed axis. A plurality of self-locking notches are formed in said sector about a locus centered on said fixed axis. The control lever is provided with a rod biased into engagement with the lockout notches so as to prevent the unintentional pivoting of the lever. The control lever is also provided with a plurality of self-locking elements which cooperate with the self-locking notches to establish transmission selection positions. The rod can be moved out of engagement with the lockout notches by engagement of a trigger release mounted on one end of the lever.

  • Patent number: 4526063
Abstract: A limited slip axle differential mechanism for a vehicle provides for three distinct modes of axle operation, each selectable by a single operator control function. The mechanism provides for conventional axle differentiation, biased differentiation, or operation as a solid axle system. In a preferred embodiment, two separate clutching systems are employed jointly or singularly in providing respective modes of operation, wherein the choices of mode, and, to a lesser extent, resultant driving conditions, determine resultant relative rotations of the vehicle wheels and associated axle shafts.
