  • Patent number: 11617824
Abstract: A morselizer has a first end section with an axially and radially hollow luer fitting, a second end section with an axially and radially hollow luer fitting, a housing juxtaposed therebetween, a channel extending axially between the first end section and the second end section and through the housing providing an axial liquid pathway therein, and at least one blade disposed within the housing. Each end of the morselizer is attachable to a structure with a complimentarily sized luer fitting. In an embodiment, the morselizer facilitates atraumatic resizing of material through axial liquid transfer, by transferring material from a first structure attached to the first end section, thence through the channel, where material is resized by the blade, and through the second end section to a second structure attached to the second end section. The resized material may be suitable for injection, such as through a fine needle.

  • Patent number: 11596736
Abstract: A medication delivery patch that is applied to the skin and activated to deliver a medication or other fluid into or through the skin. The patch may be completely mechanically driven, with no electronic components, for low cost, safety, and reliability. Pressing an activation button may set in motion a sequence of mechanical events that result in a needle exiting the patch into the skin of the user, and flow of fluid from an internal pouch in the patch into the user. When delivery is complete, another sequence of mechanical events may occur to retract the needle from the skin and stop the flow of fluid, and to show a visible indicator that delivery is complete. The patch may contain a fluid channel, such as a microfluidic channel, that controls the rate and time of delivery; this channel can be configured or selected for different medications or use cases.

  • Patent number: 11577028
Abstract: Disclosed is a syringe for a micro-dosing syringe pump. The syringe includes a reservoir having an outlet port; a plunger having a track, with the plunger received inside a portion of the reservoir; a plunger driver comprising a gear connected to one end of a shaft and a pin located adjacent an opposite end of the shaft, with the plunger driver received inside the plunger and with the pin located inside and engaging the track. In use, rotation of the gear in a first direction advances the plunger into the reservoir a first distance as the pin travels in the track and rotation of the gear in a second direction opposite the first direction advances the plunger a further distance into the reservoir as the pin travels in the track. The design prevents excess dosing in a runaway motor failure.

  • Patent number: 11534555
Abstract: An assembly for a medication delivery device having a body, a piston rod and a setting nut. The piston rod is rotatable relative to the body in a dose setting state and is axially movable in a distal direction with respect to the body in a dose delivering state. The setting nut is secured against rotational movement with respect to the body, but is axially movable relative to the body, being helically coupled with the piston rod to axially travel in the proximal direction for setting a dose of a medication due to a helical movement of the setting nut with respect to the piston rod when the piston rod is rotated in the dose setting state, and is able to axially travel in the distal direction for delivering the set dose of the medication when the piston rod is axially moved in the dose delivering state of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 11517677
Abstract: Provided is an epidural device configured to inhibit or substantially or completely prevent further progression of an epidural needle upon entry of the needle into the epidural space. When the needle is inserted into the ligamentum of the patient's back, the device may be pressurized with fluid using the resistance of the dense ligament to maintain pressure. This pressurization may lock a pushing mechanism in place relative to the needle such that the pushing mechanism can be used to advance the needle. Once the epidural space is reached, the fluid (e.g., saline or air) enters the epidural space, and the release of pressure may cause the trigger mechanism to disengage from the sliding pusher, allowing the pusher to slide along the body of the construct. The device thus may provide the ability to detect the epidural space using pressure loss while preventing the needle from advancing into the dura once the space is reached.
