  • Patent number: 12036389
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments provide an approach to predicting meal and/or exercise events for an insulin delivery system that otherwise does not otherwise identify such events. The insulin delivery system may use a model of glucose insulin interactions that projects estimated future glucose values based on a history of glucose values and insulin deliveries for a user. The predictions of meal events and/or exercise events may be based on residuals between actual glucose values and predicted glucose values. The exemplary embodiments may calculate a rate of change of the residuals over a period of time and compare the rate of change to thresholds to determine whether there likely has been a meal event or an exercise event. The insulin delivery system may then take measures to account for the meal event or the exercise event by the user.

  • Patent number: 11980742
Abstract: A device for administering a fluid medicament by injection comprises a dosing portion (1) with a collapsible reservoir (10). The reservoir (10) has a maximum volume in an extended state and a minimum volume in a collapsed state. Prior to injection, the reservoir (10) is in the extended state and contains a liquid to be administered, and the reservoir (10) is biased towards the collapsed state. The device further comprises a needle (2), wherein a lumen (20) of the needle (2) is in fluid communication with the reservoir (10). The device further comprises a shield portion (3) with a plug (30). Prior to injection, the shield portion (3) is in a deployed position where the plug (30) blocks the lumen (20) of the needle (2). The shield portion (3) is adapted to move in response to an actuation force from the deployed position to a retracted position where the lumen (20) of the needle (2) is open, thereby causing the reservoir (10) to shift to the collapsed state to expel the liquid through the needle.

  • Patent number: 11964129
Abstract: In various embodiments, a drug pump includes a housing and, within the housing, an expandable drug reservoir at least part of which is exposed to a pressurized propellant. The propellant exerts a substantially constant pressure on the drug reservoir. A flow restrictor significantly limits outflow from the pump, and preferably has both a small diameter and a long path length, which acts to control the outflow from the drug reservoir. As a result, the pump produces a substantially constant outflow.

  • Patent number: 11925790
Abstract: Processes and devices provide parenteral delivery of therapeutic fluids, in particular high-viscosity therapeutic fluids (e.g., protein therapeutics), by a chemical reaction that generates a gas. A device may include a first actuation chamber containing a first reagent, a second reaction chamber containing a second reagent, and a third therapeutic fluid chamber containing the therapeutic fluid. In a loaded configuration, a plunger separates the first chamber from the second chamber. In a delivery configuration, the plunger allows the first reagent from the first chamber to communicate and react with the second reagent from the second chamber. The generated gas acts upon a plunger to deliver the therapeutic fluid from the third chamber.
