    Abstract: Shaped articles of a crosslinked poly(vinylidene fluoride) resin can be prepared in a relatively simple process to be imparted with greatly improved resistance against heat, water, and chemicals in a much higher productivity than in the conventional electron-beam irradiation method. The method comprises the steps of (a) compounding the resin with an organosilane compound having an ethylenically unsaturated group, e.g., vinyl, and at least one alkoxy group in a molecule and a free-radical generator, e.g., organic peroxides, (b) heating the resin compound to effect graft-polymerization of the organosilane compound to the polymer molecules, (c) shaping the resin compound into a desired form, and (d) heating the shaped body in water containing a silanol-condensation catalyst dissolved or dispersed therein.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a novel blend of a water-dissipatable polyester material and an acrylic polymer. The acrylic polymer must be compatible with the polyester and can be optionally styrenated. The polyester is exemplified in having an acid component of from about 70 to about 84 mole % isophthalic acid and conversely from about 25 to about 16 mole % 5-sodiosulfoisophthalic acid, and having a glycol component of from about 45 to about 60 mole % diethylene glycol and conversely from about 55 to about 40 mole % 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol or ethylene glycol or mixtures thereof.The polymer blends are useful for preparing ink compositions having improved block resistance and water resistance.

    Abstract: Hot melt adhesives comprising ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, wax, and a resin containing 5 to 80 wt. % of units derived from olefinically unsaturated aromatic compounds, 5 to 80 wt. % of units derived from C.sub.5 or C.sub.6 olefines or diolefines or a mixture thereof, and from 7 to 45% of units derived from a terpene. The hot melt adhesive composition has improved color and compatibility over ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer and wax blends containing resins of significant portions of cyclopentadiene or dicyclopentadiene. The hot melt adhesive of the invention also show improved adhesive properties on substrate such as glass and aluminum.

C. in the range 30 to 100,000 mm.sup.2 /s, and it may be polymerized to provide an .alpha.,.omega. dihydroxy polydimethylsiloxane having a viscosity in the range 1,000 mm.sup.2 /s to 100,000 mm.sup.2 /s or more. Preferred acidic condensation catalysts are those in which R is an alkyl group having a chain of 6 to 18 carbon atoms or a group R"C.sub.6 H.sub.

The acrylic or methacrylic monomer may be partly replaced with a polyfunctional monomer, e.g., acrylic and methacrylic acids, N-methylol acrylamide, glycidyl methacrylate, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate and the like, and/or a monomer of the third class, e.g., styrene and acrylonitrile. The emulsion may be further admixed with an organohydrogen polysiloxane as a crosslinking agent and a catalyst for the crosslinking reaction.
