  • Patent number: 7894841
Abstract: A system and method for reducing call establishment delay in wireless network is provided, in which a network node establishes a call to a wireless terminal controlled by an AP via a sever. The wireless terminal notifies the server of its listen interval. In the power saving mode, the wireless terminal wakes up every listen interval and listen the beacon to check whether any buffered packet for it. When the wireless terminal learns from the beacon that there are packets waiting, it communicates with the access point to retrieve them. The server records a listen time at which the wireless terminal will wake tip and listen to the AP based on the listen interval. When a network node calls the wireless terminal, the server buffers the request for a time interval based on the listen time, and then sends the request to the wireless terminal.

  • Patent number: 7865203
Abstract: A method for grouping wireless devices and an apparatus thereof are provided. First, the feature values of a plurality of access points (APs) detected by a wireless device are received, wherein these APs are designated as a first set, and the feature values of the APs constitute a feature vector. A first grouping process is performed to the wireless device according to the first set, which allocates the wireless device to an appointed clustering factory. A second grouping process is performed to the wireless device according to the feature vector, which divides all of the wireless devices within the appointed clustering factory into a member group or a noise group. Eventually, the grouping result is transmitted to the wireless device.

  • Patent number: 7856205
Abstract: A system and method for converting a polyphonic note-based audio object to a Pulse Code Modulated (PCM) audio format is disclosed. An electronic communication device includes a memory containing a polyphonic note-based audio object containing at least two notes which overlap in at least some time interval and a lookup table containing trigonometric function evaluations. The polyphonic note-based audio object contains note frequency information. The polyphonic note-based audio object is converted to a PCM stream by generating PCM code words for each sample point in the PCM stream based upon the polyphonic note frequency information. The PCM code words are determined based upon selection of one or more of the trigonometric function evaluations within the look-up table. A speaker outputs audio based upon the PCM formatted stream.

  • Patent number: 7844292
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for in-band control signaling using bandwidth distributed encoding to send modulated control carrier signals with analog voice signals in the same voice frequency band. A transmitting device generates control carrier signals spread over a voice frequency band, combines them with analog voice signals in the voice frequency band, and transmits the combined signals over a communication channel. The transmitting device can use a control signal encoder to apply a pseudo-random code to the control carrier signal in order to spread it over a voice frequency band. As such, control signals are sent as in-band signals without significantly degrading the voice signals. A receiving device receives the combined signals within the voice frequency band. The receiving device demodulates the combined signal and uses matching pseudo-random codes to determine if a control signal has been sent. The receiving device also reproduces the voice signals themselves.

  • Patent number: 7840233
Abstract: One end of a balanced line is connected to a base station. A transmitting and receiving antenna is connected to the other end of the balanced line. The balanced line not only transmits a signal sent from the base station to the transmitting and receiving antenna and at the same time leaks a part of the transmitted signal as the radio waves, but also transmits the received signal at the transmitting and receiving antenna to the base station. In a room where the balanced line is laid, wireless communication terminals are provided. The wireless communication terminals transmit and receive radio waves to or from either the balanced line or the transmitting and receiving antenna.

  • Patent number: 7831273
Abstract: A solution for power efficient transmission in a wireless telecommunication system is provided. The telecommunication system utilizes a time slot based data transmission scheme. According to the provided solution, at least a portion of time slots is allocated to a broadcast control channel on a given frequency and to at least one different channel. The transmit power levels of the time slot or time slots allocated to another channel or other channels than the broadcast control channel are then adjusted on the basis of contents of the time slots. The broadcast signal is then transmitted with a given transmit power level on a time slot allocated to the broadcast control channel, and a signal or signals on other time slots are transmitted with the adjusted transmit power level.

  • Patent number: 7822381
Abstract: A system is provided for generating a remapped audio stream at digital audio broadcast radios from a first audio stream using content insertion to allow tiered subscription services. A remapped audio stream is rebranded by extracting segments from the first audio stream relating to channel identification segments and disk jockey talking segments and replacing them with stored audio items (e.g., commercials, different channel identification segments and different disk jockey talking segments). Stored audio items for insertion are broadcast to the radios with messages for controlling the scheduling of insertion at the radios, and the storage and deletion of these audio segments at the radios. Stored audio items and messages can be sent using a different, localized broadcast system from that used to transmit the source audio stream to permit market-specific commercial insertion. Group file format for delivery permits intermittently used radios to receive the stored audio items and messages.
