  • Patent number: 7751841
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system for establishing a session for a Push to Talk (PTT) over Cellular call (PoC). In the method, when an answer (response) mode of a PoC server and a PoC client are not in accordance with each other, an error message is transmitted to the receiving PoC server Moreover, call processing for a PoC call is improved by inserting a new data field indicating an automatic answer of a server into a payload of a Real-time Transport Protocol (RTCP) message, and a function of the terminal is extended using an added data field when the answer modes of the corresponding PoC server and PoC client are not in accordance with each other.

  • Patent number: 7751778
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for improving data transmission rates in a wireless communication system. An example method may be implemented in a wireless communication system including a plurality of base stations defining a plurality of wireless coverage areas in which a mobile station can engage in radio frequency (RF) communication with the base stations where the method includes determining a location of the mobile station. Based on the determined location of the mobile station, the method further includes determining whether activating an inactive signal repeater would increase a rate at which data is able to be communicated from the base stations to the mobile station. In the event that that it is determined that activating the signal repeater would increase the rate at which data is able to be communicated, the method still further includes activating the signal repeater.

  • Patent number: 7747257
Abstract: GPS assistance message and data issue identifiers for transmission to GPS enabled mobile stations in cellular communications networks and methods therefore. The GPS data issue identifiers indicate whether GPS data, for example corresponding ephemeris and almanac data, stored at the mobile station requires updating. In the exemplary 3rd generation (W-CDMA/UMTS) architecture, the GPS assistance message is a System Information Block (SIB), and the GPS ephemeris data identifier and corresponding satellite identifier is encoded in a value tag included in a Master Information Block (MIB).

  • Patent number: 7742739
Abstract: To reduce the overhead induced by transmitting data between a mobile client and a cellular network via an ad-hoc network extension, the cellular network transmits data dedicated to the mobile relay and dedicated to the mobile client within the same data stream, the mobile relay detects whether data received by the mobile relay contains data that are dedicated to the mobile relay itself and terminates the part of the received data that is dedicated to the mobile relay itself, the mobile relay detects whether data received by the mobile relay contains data that are dedicated to the mobile client and forwards the part that is dedicated to the mobile client to the mobile client, and the mobile relay detects whether data received by the mobile relay contains data that are dedicated to the cellular network and forwards the part that is dedicated to the cellular network to the cellular network.

  • Patent number: 7738891
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, computer program products, and methods for dynamically customizing and/or configuring applications on devices. Current access point information associated with the terminal is transmitted from the terminal. In response to providing this current access point information, the terminal receives updated access point information via the network. The terminal is configured to enable data communication by way of an access point identifiable from the updated access point information, rather than from any prior access points.

  • Patent number: 7734303
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate monitoring transmitter performance in a wireless communication environment. A metric or metrics associated with one or more pilot symbols can be generated and used to evaluate performance. To generate pilot metrics, a signal analyzer can be used to sample the output of a transmitter and the sampled signal can be propagated to a processor. The processor can generate frequency domain channel estimates for subcarriers. Average channel estimates for the subcarriers can be used with the known pilot symbols to determine noise or error for each subcarrier, which can be used to generate the noise variance for each of the pilot symbols. A pilot modulation error metric can be generated based upon the average channel estimates and noise variance.

  • Patent number: 7725122
Abstract: A method and system for controlling switching of an access terminals between wireless coverage areas such as cell sectors. A measure of actual level of service, such as throughput, provided to the access terminal across the combination of wireless coverage areas over time is determined. Further, for each wireless coverage area, a measure of predicted level of service, such as throughput, that would likely be provided to the access terminal if it operated in just that wireless coverage area is determined. If the actual level of service is greater than each predicted level of service, then the access terminal is allowed to continue switching between wireless coverage areas. On the other hand, if at least one of the predicted levels of service is greater than the actual level of service, then the access terminal is restricted to the wireless coverage area where the level of service is deemed greater.

  • Patent number: 7720436
Abstract: Displaying network content searches on mobile devices involves obtaining results of a network content request via a mobile device. A geolocation of at least one object associated with the results of the network content request is also obtained. A scene is viewed in a camera view of the mobile device. A virtual location is determined in the camera view. The virtual location represents the actual location of the object relative to the scene contained in the camera view. A graphic representing the object is then displayed at the virtual location in the camera view.
