  • Patent number: 8303752
Abstract: Provided is a method of manufacturing a wiring board, in which: a composite adhesive sheet 20 is attached to one of the surfaces of a support substrate 10, and a double-sided CCL 30 is attached to the other surface. Then, in an integrated state of the above components, a multilayer wiring structure including a conductive layer and a resin insulating layer is formed on a metal layer 33 of the double-sided CCL 30 by a known build-up method. A thermally foamable adhesive layer 22 of the composite adhesive sheet 20 is then heated, thereby thermally decomposing a thermal foaming agent to generate gas, and the support substrate 10 is separated from the remaining bonded body. Thereafter, a carrier foil layer 32b and a copper foil layer 32a of a carrier-foil coated copper foil 32 are mechanically peeled from each other at a boundary between both the layers, thereby obtaining a wiring board 1.

  • Patent number: 8303758
Abstract: Methods for manufacturing composite sections for aircraft fuselages and other structures are disclosed herein. A method for manufacturing a shell structure in accordance with one embodiment of the invention includes applying composite material to an interior mold surface of a tool to form a skin extending 360 degrees around an axis. The method can further include positioning a plurality of stiffeners on an inner surface of the skin. After the stiffeners have been positioned, a vacuum bag can be installed over the stiffeners and evacuated to press the stiffeners and the skin outwardly against the interior mold surface of the tool. Next, the skin/stiffener combination can be cocured to bond the stiffeners to the skin and harden the shell structure.

  • Patent number: 8298360
Abstract: A process for obtaining pipes and connections from a polymeric composite is provided. An internal pipe is formed using a fiberglass and epoxy resin matrix. Made in a mold by filament winding a roving wire, the internal pipe is impregnated with epoxy resin and catalyzed with a heat curing agent. The pipe extremities are formed through a mold using a composite of epoxy resin and carbon fiber base. The external face of the internal layer is sanded. A second layer is formed by filament winding a roving wire, impregnated with polyester resin with an added silica base, and catalyzed with cold-cured cobalt and polyester. Charge is added to the silica base. The polyester resin is deposited in an intercalated manner between the layers of winding filament. A third layer of polyurethane is deposited over the second layer and cold cured.

  • Patent number: 8262843
Abstract: A curved multi-layer structure (10) is formed from individual films (1, 2) that are initially flat. The films are firmly bonded to each other along respective facing surfaces. A heat treatment is applied to one or both of the films (1, 2) of the structure so as to cause respective contractions or elongations that are different for the two films at standard use temperatures. A difference between said contractions or elongations causes the curvature of the multi-layer structure. The structure thus has a permanent curved shape, without contact between compression-forming instruments and a useful part of the multi-layer structure being necessary. The multi-layer structure can then be applied onto a curved substrate without causing any tears or ripples.

  • Patent number: 8262825
Abstract: Composite tubes may be fabricated by filament winding a layer of resin impregnated carbon fiber with a near-axial fiber orientation over a mandrel and over end-fittings. Bands of resin-impregnated fibers are then wound circumferentially around this near-axial layer in a position that coincides with a circumferential groove in the underlying end-fittings. The ends of the near-axial layer are folded back over the bands, resulting in a double layer of intact near-axial fibers locked into the groove on the end-fittings by the bands of intact circumferential fibers. Testing has shown this arrangement to be effective for introducing very high axial loads onto the composite tube.
