  • Patent number: 9930495
Abstract: A dynamic adjustment method while driving a vehicle of at least one vehicle operating parameter is for a vehicle having an electronic control unit adapted to set the operating parameter, and a communication interface operatively connected to the electronic control unit. An application program is installed on board a portable processing device including a communication interface communicating with the vehicle communication interface. The application program accesses an electronic map of a path and divides the path in sectors. Operating parameter values are stored via the application program, each value being associated to a corresponding sector. While driving, the sector occupied by the vehicle is identified in real time. Values are transmitted sector by sector, from the portable processing device to the electronic control unit so that the electronic control unit sets, sector by sector, the vehicle operating parameter vehicle to the value associated to the occupied sector.

  • Patent number: 9912662
Abstract: Techniques are presented for receiving, at a discovered secure user platform location (SUPL) server (D-SLP) a request from a device for authorization to access a second D-SLP, where the D-SLP provides location services to a first service area comprising a venue or building. The second D-SLP provides location services to a second service area larger than the first service area authenticating information from a Home SLP (H-SLP) received as part of the request to access the second D-SLP. Techniques involve communicating an authorization to access the second D-SLP to the device after authenticating the information from the H-SLP.

  • Patent number: 9913072
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling activation of at least one terminal in a machine-type communication application using a wireless access network. The wireless access network comprises a number of location areas, each of the location areas comprising a plurality of cells. The terminal has been assigned an identifier. First, a location identifier is received from a location provider, the location identifier indicating a subset of cells of at least one of the location areas. Activation of the at least one terminal is then controlled by transmitting at least one broadcast message on at least one cell broadcast channel in the cells of the subset indicated by the location identifier. The broadcast message contains the identifier or identifier part assigned to the terminal, such that the at least one terminal is signalled that the broadcast message is intended for him. An activation control system and a mobile terminal for use with such a system are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9877300
Abstract: Described herein are techniques for determining a location of a disconnected device. In an example, a method includes instructing a first access point to sniff a wireless channel for probe request packets from disconnected devices, and instructing the first access point to send a distance-probing packet to a disconnected device after receiving a probe request packet from the disconnected device. The method further includes receiving, from the first access point, a MAC address of the disconnected device determined from the received probe request packet. After receiving the MAC address from the first access point, a group of access points is instructed to send distance-probing packets to the disconnected device. The method further includes receiving, from the first access point and the group of access points, time-of-flight measurements associated with the disconnected device. A location of the disconnected device can be determined using the time-of-flight measurements.

  • Patent number: 9876271
Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate a mobile communication device and techniques to suppress deterioration of antenna characteristics. The mobile device includes metallic members that are disposed around, or in portions of a casing of the mobile device. The metallic member is grounded directly to a ground plane of the mobile device at a first predetermined position. The grounded metallic member forms a stub line that cancels a flow of electric current though the metallic member. Furthermore, the metallic member is also connected to the ground plane, at a second predetermined location, via a resonant circuit. The mobile device is capable of adjusting a phase of the antenna current flowing through the device, when the mobile device is being operated by a user, and thus suppresses deterioration of antenna characteristics in certain desired frequency bands.
