Abstract: A property analyzer device may include (1) a receiver configured to receive property identification information from a mobile device, the received property identification information including a picture of the property and/or a property location; (2) a retriever configured to retrieve property-related information from multiple property sources (such as public record databases, websites, or an internal company database) based upon the received property identification information; (3) a processor configured to consolidate the retrieved property-related information into a consolidated property-related image of the property; and (4) a transmitter configured to transmit the consolidated property-related image to the mobile device for review by a user.

Abstract: A system for enhanced personal property replacement (i) builds a virtual inventory of personal belongings, such as by performing object recognition techniques on mobile device digital images with the customer's permission or affirmative consent; (ii) receives user preferences transmitted from their mobile device; (iii) receives a request from the user to handle an insurance claim after an insurance-related event; (iv) determines items to purchase for the user based upon the user preferences, and/or the extent of damage; and/or (v) transmits, to a retailer remote server a virtual order for the items to be delivered to the user at a temporary (hotel) or permanent (home) address. Insurance claim monies may be used to pay for the items. As a result, after an event (e.g., fire, tornado, hurricane), household or other goods may be automatically purchased and delivered to a customer to alleviate the negative impact of the event on their life.

Abstract: This disclosure describes systems and techniques for enabling a communication device to communicate wirelessly with a near-field-communication (NFC)-enabled payment terminal while avoiding interference between the NFC-enabled payment terminal and other NFC payment instruments. In some instances, the communication device may receive, via a non-NFC communication protocol, a payment token from an identification device and may send, over NFC, the payment token to the NFC-enabled payment terminal for satisfying the cost of a transaction.

Abstract: A computing system including a processor may receive, from a network device, a request for a ride at a scheduled time. The computing system may start to look for a candidate ride, to serve the received request, at a predetermined time prior to the scheduled time. The computing system may book the candidate ride to serve the received request upon determining that the candidate ride can serve the received request. The computing system may determine occurrence of a potential failure associated with the candidate ride serving the received request. The computing system may book a replacement ride to serve the received request upon determining that the replacement ride can serve the received request. Various other aspects are disclosed.

Abstract: Received data messages are delayed for further processing based on a bypass condition. Data messages that conform to the bypass condition are not delayed. Data messages that do not conform to the bypass condition are delayed by a delay. Data messages can be representative of orders in an electronic marketplace or trading system. The bypass condition can include indication of a post-only order. The bypass condition can further include indication of a volume that meets or exceeds a minimum volume. The delay can be calculated from a base delay and a variance that modifies the base delay. The variance can be randomly or pseudo-randomly selected and can conform to a maximum variance.

Abstract: A method for validating user credentials in a transaction initiated with a portable payment device associated with a biometric verification process including establishing a communication protocol between the portable payment device and the point-of-sale system, determining at least one result corresponding to a verification requirement of the biometric verification process, in response to determining an absence result or a failure result of the verification requirement of the biometric verification process, determining an alternate verification process associated with the portable payment device, determining a verification requirement of the alternate verification process, and transmitting the verification requirement of the alternate verification process to the point-of-sale system. A system and computer program product for validating user credentials in a transaction are also disclosed.

Abstract: Verification of user identities is an important aspect of computer and network security. In some instances, a first user may attempt to engage with a second user via a web application, mobile phone app, or other software without necessary knowing that the identity of a second user is accurate. The computer security problem of identity verification may be particularly acute when the only contact information is an email address, phone number, or other electronic identifier that can potentially change ownership (e.g. a person may get a new phone number, someone might purchase an Internet domain and thus change ownership of an email address, etc.) This disclosure and claims relate to techniques that allow for enhanced security by verifying an identity of a user via specific prompts and interactions provided via software. Particular credentials may be required in order to verify user identity, including biometrics and other specific required responses.

Abstract: Methods and systems that manage building code compliance are provided. A smart or interconnected home may be populated with multiple smart or other devices that are in wired or wireless communication with a central controller. The smart devices may be covered by an insurance policy, such as a homeowners, renters, or personal articles insurance policy. The controller may receive building code compliance information associated with the smart devices, and may update an inventory list to include the building code compliance information. The controller may detect that one or more devices do not comply with building code requirements. The controller may transmit a notification to a customer about possible corrective actions to remedy non-compliant conditions and to facilitate building code compliance. The smart devices may be associated with appliances, electronics, wiring, pipes, ducts, or other equipment or personal belongings.

Abstract: Point of sale (POS) devices, systems, and methods disclosed herein enable payments by merchants to non-customers, such as to employees of the merchant. A point of sale system of the merchant determines an amount of a payment to be made by the merchant to the employee. The point of sale system transmits payment instructions for executing the payment to a payment system provider computing system. The funds are made available in a bank account of the employee instantly or near instantly.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for prepaid card funding for sponsored purchases includes receiving a payment request for funding a sponsored purchase using a payment vehicle, deducting funds from a financial account associated with the payment vehicle, such that the financial account has a negative balance, and loading additional funds into the financial account associated with the payment vehicle, such that the financial account has a zero balance.

Abstract: Systems and methods disclosed herein for the client-side management of recurring payment transactions. An account holder can interact with a consumer computing device, such as a smart phone or tablet computer, to provide billing parameters for recurring payments to a merchant. The billing parameters can be updated over time by the account holder.

Abstract: Systems and methods for intellectual property (IP) asset protection are disclosed. For example, by analyzing characteristic information associated with a user, along with feedback from one or more potential insurers, the system may determine various terms of an insurance policy for protecting the user against claims of IP infringement. The policy may provide for financial reimbursement for costs incurred while taking active measures to mitigate losses and/or defend against such claims. In addition, the system may analyze the characteristic information to identify various users having a low exposure of an infringement claim being asserted. The identified users may be actively targeted to acquire an IP protection policy.

Abstract: An art investment estimation system is provided that is updated to include a first sale price and date, and a second sale price and date of a plurality of repeat sale pairs of a plurality of works of art associated with an artist. The system determines one or more investment value variables derived from the first sale price and associated first sale date and the second sale price and associated second sale date for the plurality of repeat sale pairs of the plurality of works of art. The system receives, at a graphical user interface (GUI), input from a user designating weights for the investment value variables for an artist. The system determines, from the designated weights and the investment value variables, an artist investment potential value for the artist and, at the GUI, displays to the user the artist investment potential value.

Abstract: Data streaming applications may need to provide high reliability, particularly depending on the nature of the data being streamed. A framework is described that allows a data streaming application to ensure high reliability both during update operations and during ordinary operations. A unique event ID count can be recorded that reflects messages being sent from a source to the streaming application. After an update and service restart, the count can again be collected to see if data is flowing through the streaming application as expected. Unique database record counts can be reviewed (e.g. after a restart or during ordinary operations) to ensure that no records are being unexpectedly dropped. Data content sampling can also be performed to see that any data transformations are functioning properly. Corrective actions (after a restart or during ordinary operations) can also be taken, including replay of database messages that are dropped, or sending an alert.

Abstract: The present embodiments relate to detecting instances of individuals being in peril within an independent or assisted living environment. According to certain aspects, with an individual's permission or affirmative consent, a hardware controller (such as a smart or interconnected home controller, or even a mobile device) may receive and analyze sensor data detected within the independent or assisted living environment to determine whether an individual may be in peril. In this circumstance, the hardware controller may generate a notification that indicates the situation and may communicate the notification to a proper individual, such as a family member or care giver, who may be in a position to mitigate or alleviate any risks posed by the situation. The foregoing functionality also may be used by an insurance provider to generate, update, or adjust insurance policies, premiums, rates, or discounts, and/or make recommendations to an insured individual.

Abstract: A terminal receives card details for a payment card to process payment for a transaction. The card and transaction details are sent to an intermediate server. The card details are identified as being associated with a card issuer associated with a first currency while the terminal is associated with a second different currency from the first currency. A currency conversion entity selection request is sent to the card issuer. The card issuer requests a consumer select a currency conversion entity for payment at the terminal. A mobile device of the consumer generates encoded data representing: a selected currency conversion entity, the card details, and the transaction details. The encoded data is processed to verify and process payment for the transaction with the selected currency conversion entity preventing any override by a merchant to use a different currency conversion entity at the terminal.

Abstract: A system and method for defining and processing timed orders are defined. According to one embodiment, a trader may define a timed order by defining an intra-day time trigger or a time period when the timed order should be automatically modified, such as deleted or cancelled/replaced with a new order. In one embodiment, the intra-day time trigger or time period may be dynamically changed to a later time, for example, upon receiving a predetermined user input. Also, the time trigger and time period may be configured to dynamically vary based on any user configurable formula. Also, the timed order may be associated with one or more actions to be taken once the order is deleted, such as sending a new order, for example.
