Abstract: A method and transaction orchestrator node for executing a global transaction in a transaction execution system. The transaction execution system is involving at least one reliable transaction executing instance supporting a reserve/commit protocol and one unreliable transaction executing instance that does not support a reserve/commit protocol. The transaction orchestrator node is receiving a global transaction initiation message involving plural sub transactions for execution by the involved corresponding transaction executing instances and sending a prepare transaction message to involved reliable transaction executing instances for corresponding sub transactions. Upon receiving confirmation of all prepare transaction messages the transaction orchestrator node is sending an execution message to the involved unreliable transaction executing instance for a corresponding sub transaction.

Abstract: A keyboard-mouse-video (KVM) system. The system includes a KVM switch having a first controller; a ROC unit having a second controller; and a cable which connects the ROC unit to the KVM switch, the cable having four pairs of wires. The first controller is configured to transmit and the second controller is configured to receive an Ethernet signal using a first pair of wires. The second controller is configured to transmit and the first controller is configured to receive a serial signal using a second pair of wires.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media for classifying application traffic at a network traffic emulation device that emulates multiple application servers are disclosed. The method may include, at a network traffic emulation device, providing a plurality of different application flows for monitoring mixed application traffic received from different client applications via a device under test on the same transport layer port. For each of the different application flows that monitor the same transport layer port, parsing a payload of received packets associated with the same session in the mixed application traffic and identifying non-matching application flows based on whether a portion of each payload matches a signature associated with the application flow.

Abstract: System and method for group participation in a digital media presentation are provided that are capable of selecting digital media items for inclusion in the presentation from multiple participant's accounts thereby creating a group presentation in which digital media items of each participant are included in the presentation. Selections of digital media items for inclusion in the presentation can be made directly at the direction of the participations or inferentially according to a selection algorithm. Selections can be made during the presentation thereby allowing a participant to join the presentation after it has started and contribute digital media items to the presentation while it is running.

Abstract: When a checkpoint comes, the control section selects some of a plurality of small areas which are transfer targets in the memory as small areas to be transferred to the outside of the own computer through the save area (indirect transfer small areas), and selects the others as small areas to be transferred to the outside of the own computer not through the save area (direct transfer small areas). Within a period in which updating from the own computer to the memory is suspended, the control section copies stored data in the small areas selected as the indirect transfer small areas from the memory to the save area with use of the copy section, and in parallel to the copying, transfers stored data in the small areas selected as the direct transfer small areas from the memory to the outside of the own computer with use of the communication section.

Abstract: A system includes a storage device to store information associated with virtual nodes that correspond to network nodes. The system also includes a server to install a virtual node that corresponds to one of the network nodes, based on the information associated with the virtual node, where installing the virtual node includes creating a logical interface via which traffic is to be sent to, or received from, other virtual nodes; start the virtual node to create an operating virtual node based on a copy of an operating system that is run on the network node, where starting the virtual node causes the operational virtual node to execute the copy of the operating system; and cause the operating virtual node to communicate with a virtual network that includes the virtual nodes, where causing the operating virtual node to communicate with the virtual network enables the operating virtual node to receive or forward traffic associated with the virtual network.

Abstract: In accordance with various embodiments, systems and methods are provided for co-locating execution logic and state data in a distributed and clustered environment. Such a system can include a plurality of applications, executing on one or more application servers, including an event broker which identifies state data required by an actor, a database which identifies an application server where such state data is cached; and a co-location module which instantiates the actor on the application server where such state data is cached. The method includes identifying state data required by a transaction, identifying an application server where such state data is cached, instantiating execution logic for processing the transaction on the application server where such state data is cached, and executing said execution logic for processing the transaction on the application server where such state data is cached thereby providing predictable low execution latency.

Abstract: Techniques for insertion of supplementary content into a segmented content stream are described. In at least some embodiments, a content stream includes primary content, such as streaming web content, a movie, an event broadcast (live and/or recorded), a television program, and so on. The content stream can be segmented, such as via techniques for adaptive bitrate streaming. Techniques discussed herein enable supplementary content, such as an advertisement, to be inserted into the content stream. The supplementary content can be inserted at any specified time point, even if the specified time point falls within a segment of the content stream. Techniques further enable playback of the content stream to be paused during playback of the supplementary content, and to resume after playback of the supplementary content.

Abstract: A combination of a common key routing (CKR) method and a data locality table (DLT) method may be used to route communication messages in a telecommunication network to achieve improved data locality and reduce secondary key lookups. A processor in a multiprocessor computing system may receive a first communication message that includes subscriber identifiers that uniquely identify a subscriber, generate a common key based on the subscriber identifiers included in the first communication message, and identify a first logical scalable unit that includes a first database memory that stores subscriber data relating to the subscriber by querying a data locality table with the common key. The processor may also identify a first application processor in the multiprocessor computing system that is part of the first logical scalable unit and send the first communication message to the first application processor.

Abstract: A combination of an independent key routing (IKR) method and a data proxy architecture (DPA) method may be used to route communication messages in a telecommunication network to achieve improved data locality and reduce secondary key lookups. A processor may receive a first communication message that includes subscriber identifiers that uniquely identify a subscriber, generate a plurality of keys for a plurality of message types, identify a first logical scalable unit (LSU) that includes a first memory that stores a first type of data via a database API and a first key, identify a second LSU that includes a second memory that stores a second type of data relating to the subscriber via the database API and a second key of the plurality of keys, store the first communication message and the first key in the first database memory, and store the first key in the second database memory.

Abstract: Defragmenting a cluster service to service additional capacity requests on the service. A method includes determining an amount of server resources needed for an additional deployment reservation request for a new deployment or increasing reservation of resources of an existing deployment. The method further includes determining a server that currently does not have capacity to service the additional deployment reservation request. The method further includes determining how resources on the server can be freed up by moving other replicas of other deployments on the server to other servers to allow the server to service the additional deployment reservation request.

Abstract: Techniques for enabling improved electronic mail handling in communication networks include a method of handling an electronic mail message in an electronic mail system. The method includes establishing a secure connection between a client of a message sender and a server of a message recipient in the electronic mail system. The method also includes participating in an authentication exchange to verify the identity of the message sender. The method further includes the message sender depositing an electronic mail message with the server of the message recipient upon successful verification of the identity of the client of the message sender.

Abstract: A method and arrangement for handling document requests in a communication services network. When a first document server (200) receives (2:1) a request for a first service document from a requesting party (200), the requested first service document (Doc 1) is retrieved (2:2), which comprises a reference (ref) to service related information in a second service document (Doc 2). The first document server (200) then fetches (2:3) said service related information (list) in the second service document using the information reference, and aggregates (2:4) the fetched service related information with the first service document. The first document server (200) finally returns (2:5) the first service document together with the aggregated service related information (Doc 1?) to the requesting party in response to the received document request. Thereby, the requesting party is not forced to request for more documents than the first service document to obtain the needed information.

The method includes receiving an SCTP message containing an address, a port identifier, and a verification tag. The method includes determining, using the verification tag, an associated application server from a plurality of application servers. The method includes sending the SCTP message to the application server for processing.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the disclosed technology can configure access permissions for content shared via an online content management system. In one example, a first user of the online content management system can share his directory including files with other users (“recipients”). Upon agreeing to the content sharing from the first user, the recipients can reconstruct local representations of the shared directory and any included file (i.e., local representations of shared content). Access permissions associated with the recipients' local representations of the shared content can be configured to prevent unpermitted/unauthorized modifying or deleting of the local representations by the recipients. However, the first user can maintain read and write permissions, permitting him to make modifications or deletions to the shared content.

Abstract: A processing control server has a first communication unit that communicates with a processing terminal by using a first connection based on HTTP; a second communication unit that communicates with the processing terminal by using a second connection that is different from the first connection; and a processing control unit that transmits object data to the processing terminal based on HTTP after acquiring a processing request, and requests the processing terminal to cancel processing of the object data by using the second connection in response to acquisition of a cancellation request.

Abstract: Providing a requisite level of service for an electronic meeting. An embodiment can include receiving a request to schedule a first electronic meeting in a time slot, identifying an electronic meeting system to host the first electronic meeting, identifying a second electronic meeting scheduled to be hosted by the electronic meeting system in the time slot, determining an estimate of resource usage within the electronic meeting system during the time slot at least based on the second electronic meeting being scheduled to be hosted by the electronic meeting system in the time slot, comparing the estimate of resource usage with a threshold value, responsive to determining that the estimate of resource usage exceeds the threshold value, providing the requisite level of service to the first electronic meeting in the time slot by reducing anticipated resource usage of the electronic meeting system by the second electronic meeting.

Abstract: A system for notification of a change to content of a document may include a processor and a module operable on the processor for allowing a user to dynamically select a variable amount of content of the document for which a notification of a change to the selected variable amount of content is desired. The system may also include a module operable on the processor for detecting a change to the selected variable amount of content being made by another user. The system may additionally include a module operable on the processor for creating the notification of the change to the selected variable amount of content. The system may further include a module operable on the processor for transmitting the notification of the change to the selected variable amount of content in response to the change to the selected variable amount of content of the document being saved by the other user.
