  • Patent number: 10871544
Abstract: An apparatus and method define a parametric model that may be utilized for determining a position of a mobile device relative to a beacon that includes at least first and second directive antennas and at least a non-directive antenna. The apparatus includes a communication interface configured to receive signals from at least the first and second directive antennas and at least the non-directive antenna at each of a plurality of angular positions throughout a range of angles. The apparatus further includes processing circuitry configured to normalize the signal strengths of the signals received from the first and second directive antennas. The processing circuitry is also configured to determine the parametric model representative of relationships based upon the normalized signal strengths of the signals received from the first and second directive antennas to the angle of the mobile device to the beacon.

  • Patent number: 10869260
Abstract: System and methods are provided to create representations of geographic areas. Such representations enable users to search for items and services of interest and to quickly locate and utilize such items and services. Representations are created using user preferences thus reducing the amount of information presented to a user, i.e., user preferences control the contents of a representation. Control APIs contained within a representation may be used to control devices represented in a representation or to manufacture them using 3-D printing technologies. Methods to learn user preferences via his movements and other actions and impose a user's preferences upon an environment are shown. Some details of the invention are described by applying the invention to problems in retail marketing and figures depicting an implementation illustrate certain aspects of the invention.

  • Patent number: 10867234
Abstract: Methods, systems, apparatus, and tangible non-transitory carrier media encoded with one or more computer programs that can determine the path or route most likely navigated by a mobile target are described. In accordance with particular embodiments, the most likely path or route is determined based on path-based scoring of position estimates obtained from different types of complementary locationing signal sources. Instead of fusing the position data derived from the different types of signal sources, these particular embodiments determine the most likely path navigated by the mobile target based on an independent aggregation of the position estimates derived from complementary signals of different source types.

  • Patent number: 10863019
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods are provided for analyzing an incoming telephonic event (e.g., call, message, and/or notification) to a mobile device during operation of a vehicle in relation to a combination of factors to determine if the incoming telephonic event is to be allowed to be received during vehicle operation. The mobile device associated with a driver of the vehicle may receive the incoming telephonic event during operation of the vehicle. An incoming telephonic event analysis application operating on the mobile device may apply a soft block preventing the incoming telephonic event from being displayed on the mobile device. Based on the incoming telephonic event data, vehicle operational data, user preferences, hands-free device activation, and driver and road ratings, the incoming telephonic event analysis application may determine whether or not to maintain the soft block or allow the incoming telephonic event to be displayed on the mobile device during operation of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10841924
Abstract: A basic bandwidth wireless local area network (WLAN) device or station (STA) is assigned to a secondary channel. The basic bandwidth STA may be a 20 MHz STA. On the secondary channel, the basic bandwidth STA operates in a wideband mode recovering received data transmitted from an access point (AP) as part of a high bandwidth physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU). The STA and the AP can be members of a basic service set (BSS). The high bandwidth PPDU may be, for example, a 40 MHz, 60 MHz, or 80 MHz PPDU. Once on the secondary channel, the STA relies on the AP to perform channel sensing and scheduling activities, thus reducing power consumption at the STA and increasing the efficiency of the BSS. Several signaling formats are provided for indicating the secondary channel that the STA is assigned to or requests to move to.

  • Patent number: 10840970
Abstract: A method and devices are disclosed that increase the range of active geo-location from the airborne measuring station as compared with known methods by increasing the effective receive sensitivity of the airborne measuring station. In one embodiment, this may be accomplished by transmitting a burst of predetermined ranging packets and recording the correlation values of each received bit stream of the response packets with the corresponding predetermined bit streams for each of the transmitted ranging packets within a preset reception window. A rolling maximum is then performed on the correlation values in each reception window. At the end of the burst, the rolling maximum results are summed and the time of the peak value is determined.

  • Patent number: 10820163
Abstract: A system may include various user devices coupled to a cellular network. Each user device may be associated with a respective member of a predetermined population. The system may further include a contact management server coupled to the cellular network. The contact management server may determine a previous contact event of a user device among the user devices. The contact management server may further determine a selection of a first contact type for contacting the user device. The first contact type may be different from a second contact type of the previous contact event. The contact management server may further transmit a command that triggers the contact event of the user device based on the first contact type.
