  • Patent number: 11564267
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and/or a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. Radio capability signaling (RACS) optimization for the radio access technology (RAT) may be deployed for some user equipments (UEs) in a network to reduce a signaling overhead associated with identifying UE radio capabilities. The UEs may be configured with a set of UE radio capability identifiers, such as a UE radio capability identifier for a narrowband (NB) RAT, a UE radio capability identifier for a non-NB RAT, and/or the like. A UE may provide a single UE radio capability identifier corresponding to a type of RAT to which the UE is to connect. The BS may determine that the UE supports RACS optimization for the RAT. If the UE does not provide the UE radio capability identifier, the BS may infer that the UE does not support RACS optimization.

  • Patent number: 11558846
Abstract: A reference signal periodically transmitted by a base station in a wireless network can have certain proprietary properties to help prevent detection and utilization of the signal for unauthorized positioning of mobile devices. More specifically, a network node can obscure and introduce time-variation in mapping between positioning signals and a corresponding physical base stations. The network node may also introduce time variations in fields of a base station almanac (BSA) provided to subscribing user equipments (UEs). The information transmitted to the subscribing UEs may be encrypted.

  • Patent number: 11546726
Abstract: A telecommunications receiver is adapted to communicate with mobile devices that operate according to a protocol where the telecommunications receiver operates outside of expected ranges for the protocol but modifies its communications with mobile devices to appear to those mobile devices as being within the expected ranges. To determine what modifications to make to transmissions, the telecommunication receiver processes signals from mobile devices to determine where a communications channel is relative to the expected ranges and uses that information to modify transmissions to mobile devices. The expected ranges might relate to maximum distance between telecommunications receiver and a mobile device, maximum relative velocity, power etc.

  • Patent number: 11546822
Abstract: The present invention discloses methods and systems for selecting at least one SIM card for data communication at a wireless communication device which is capable of housing a plurality of SIM cards. When a switching condition is satisfied, the wireless communication device selects a second SIM card group, and disconnects one or more connections established using any non-second group SIM card. Non-second group SIM cards are SIM cards that are not in the second SIM card group. A selected SIM card from the second SIM card group is then used for data communications. The steps are repeated until (i) the switching condition is no longer satisfied, (ii) no more SIM cards selected from the second SIM card group can be used for data communications or (iii) no more connection is made using non-second group SIM cards.

  • Patent number: 11510050
Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques for determining technological capability of devices whose technological capability are unknown. The devices can be users of a wireless telecommunication network. A device, such as a cell phone, has a type allocation code (TAC) which can indicate a make and model of the device. Once the make and model of the device are known, the technical capability of the device is known. Certain TAC numbers, however, do not indicate the make and model of the device, and thus a device's technical capability is unknown. To determine the technological capability of the devices, a machine learning model is trained using usage data of the devices with known technological capability. After training, the machine learning model can be deployed to predict the technological capability of devices with unrecognizable TAC numbers by providing usage data associated with the devices with unrecognizable TAC numbers.
