Patent number: 11599737Abstract: A tag with sufficient variability is generated. The tag facilitates quick location and processing within a facility. During generation, a matrix representative of a possible tag may be tested for sufficient variability. A two-dimensional matrix representing the possible tag may include different bit values at different positions. A variability metric of the matrix is performed to check the variability between adjacent elements of the matrix. This variability metric of the matrix is then compared against a variability threshold value. If the variability metric of the matrix falls below the threshold value, the matrix is flagged as unusable. If the variability metric of the matrix exceeds the threshold value, the matrix can be used to generate a tag with sufficient variability. Once generated, the tag can be presented and affixed to an item or object to help identify and locate the item within the facility.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 2021Date of Patent: March 7, 2023Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Ejaz Ahmed, Jeremy Samuel De Bonet, Oded Maron, Mirko Ristivojevic

Patent number: 11551180Abstract: A system and method for ensuring safe delivery of items to an event, such as a conference or trade show. The system uses a controlled-access website or app and a program with a database operated by a security coordinator. All prospective attendees are vetted, and after being verified as bona fide attendees who qualify as a reliable exhibitor/shipper, are given access to the database for the purpose of obtaining (by download) a particularized set of coded labels to be applied to a particular item to be shipped. The coded labels are then printed, applied to the items to be shipped and sent to a staging location for screening. At the staging location, the security coordinator scans all coded labels of shipped items when they arrive, and the program compares the scanned data with the data in the database to see if the shipped items are associated with a reliable exhibitor/shipper.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2021Date of Patent: January 10, 2023Inventor: Richard A. Patent number: 11514255Abstract: RFID readers may be configured to supply power to tags during frequency hops. When a reader is supplying power to a passive RFID tag via a first RF waveform having a first radio frequency and determines that it is to frequency-hop, the reader may determine whether the tag requires power during the hop. If so, the reader begins (or continues) to synthesize a second RF waveform with a second radio frequency while also synthesizing the first RF waveform, and frequency-hops by transitioning from transmitting the first RF waveform to transmitting the second RF waveform such that the power transmitted during the transition is sufficient for the tag to operate.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2021Date of Patent: November 29, 2022Assignee: Impinj, Inc.Inventors: Mike Thomas, Omer Onen, Joe Tarantino, Christopher J.
