  • Patent number: 5950517
Abstract: This invention attaches to a sawmill carriage, enabling an operator to turn a log carried by the sawmill carriage without having to return the sawmill carriage to a fixed location. The invention includes a log turning hook with positioning guide bar that slides vertically with respect to, and pivots with, a cylinder. As the turning hook with positioning guide bar is lifting the log, the weight of the log is forcing the hook with positioning guide bar to pivot, which rotates the log ninety degrees into position for the next saw cut.

  • Patent number: 5946796
Abstract: A tool for forming wire windings located in stator slots defined between radially extending stator teeth. The tool includes a fixture supporting a plurality of elongated fingers wherein each finger includes a plurality of sections spaced longitudinally along the finger, each section defining a width dimension different from the width dimension of an adjacent section. The width dimensions of the sections progressively increase from a distal end of the finger to a proximal end of the finger. A linear actuator is provided for moving the fixture toward and away from a stator whereby the fingers are inserted between the teeth in the stator to cause wire wound around the teeth to be pressed against the teeth.

  • Patent number: 5946795
Abstract: A micromechanical oscillating mass balance and method adapted for measuring minute quantities of material deposited at a selected location, such as during a vapor deposition process. The invention comprises a vibratory composite beam which includes a dielectric layer sandwiched between two conductive layers. The beam is positioned in a magnetic field. An alternating current passes through one conductive layers, the beam oscillates, inducing an output current in the second conductive layer, which is analyzed to determine the resonant frequency of the beam. As material is deposited on the beam, the mass of the beam increases and the resonant frequency of the beam shifts, and the mass added is determined.

  • Patent number: 5947455
Abstract: A vibration-proof mount includes an inner shell member comprised of a center pipe and a bush, and an outer shell member including a first collar and a second collar. The center pipe and the outer shell member are connected to each other by first and second elastomer members with a liquid encapsulated therein. A liquid chamber is formed between the first and second elastomer members and expanded and contracted in volume by a load, and an orifice is defined in the first elastomer member and connected to the liquid chamber. The orifice is formed by only a wall surface of the first elastomer member and hence, the sectional area of a flow path in the orifice can be insured to prevent a difference in characteristic between individuals of the vibration-proof mount, as compared with the case where the orifice is defined between a plurality of members.

  • Patent number: 5943769
Abstract: A method for making integrated circuits electrically connected to conductive coil elements includes placing integrated circuits in recesses provided at precise locations along a foil carrier web and positioning coils also at designated locations on the foil web so that a coil is associated with each integrated circuit. The web is then cut to produce a planar coil electrically connected to an integrated circuit on a foil element. The integrated circuit and coils may be coated with a casting compound and the coils may be formed using various procedures, including pressing coils into the surface of the foil, sewing the coils to the foil and electrostatically forming the coils on the foil with fusion of the coil material directly onto the foil. Apparatus for carrying out the aforesaid process, including winding of the coils, is described.

  • Patent number: 5940963
Abstract: The finished mass terminated end for a miniature coaxial ribbon cable is comprised of coaxial ribbon cable having an overlayer of metallic materials soldered into position, adhesive tape end portions and the insulation required by the conductor. The method of producing the mass terminated miniature coaxial ribbon cable comprises the steps necessary to produce a cable, both during the process and as a finished product that is consistently uniform in terms of the spacing of the conductors exposed and repetitive axial location without which later operations cannot be performed enmasse with a high degree of reliability and uniform appearance. The uniformity also allows termination without crossovers and shorts and improves strain relief by allowing all the conductors to become taut at the same time in order to equally share mechanical loads in a straight line motion.
