  • Patent number: 9722814
Abstract: A node within a wireless endpoint device may be coupled to multiple heterogeneous networks simultaneously. The node is configured to select between the different networks based on various constraints associated with the endpoint device, applications executing on the endpoint device, traffic routed by the endpoint device, and constraints associated with the multiple networks. Based on these different constraints, and based on the current operating mode of the node, the node rates each network, and then selects the network with the highest rating to be used for routing purposes.

  • Patent number: 9717060
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) detects control channels on multiple component carriers in a downlink subframe of a radio frame. An acknowledgement/negative-acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) signal for the detected control channels or data channels corresponding to the detected control channels is transmitted in an uplink (UL) resource region. The UE determines whether UL transmission (Tx) power control fields received at a respective one of the detected control channels are used as values indicating a resource region for transmission of the ACK/NACK signal based on whether a respective one of the detected control channels carries triggering information for activating use of a UL Tx power control field of the respective control channel for aperiodic sounding reference signal (SRS) power control. The UE transmits the ACK/NACK signal in a UL resource region based on a result of the determining, or in a UL resource region linked to the respective one of the detected control channels.

  • Patent number: 9648552
Abstract: A device may use positioning information to increase the efficiency a wireless local area network (WLAN) scanning process. To determine the presence of WLANs within range, a device may determine its own location. For example, the device may determine its own location using a satellite-based navigation system. The device may then determine a wireless scanning strategy based on the determined location. • Patent number: 9628376
Abstract: The controller sets control information in a switch over a control channel to control the switch. The switch includes a packet processing unit that processes a packet received based on control information as set from the controller, and a Layer-2 forwarding unit that learns an input port of a control packet between the controller and a neighboring switch or switches and that forwards the control packet on the basis of learned results. The switch also includes an alternative control channel construction unit that, on detecting a disconnection of the control channel, sends a packet requesting a resolution of a Layer-2 address of the controller to the neighboring switch or switches. The alternative control channel construction unit acquires the Layer-2 address from the controller via the neighboring switch or switches and transmits the control packet to the controller using the Layer-2 address acquired to construct a second control channel between the switch and the controller.

  • Patent number: 9629156
Abstract: A node of a wireless network transmits information to a user equipment over an aggregated carrier that includes a primary carrier having a first set of primary carrier time/frequency resources and a secondary carrier having a second set of secondary carrier time/frequency resources. Synchronization signals and/or reference symbols are transmitted to the user equipment on the secondary carrier less often than on the primary carrier. An indication of when and/or how often the synchronization signals and/or reference symbols will be transmitted to the user equipment on the secondary carrier may also be transmitted to the user equipment over the primary carrier. By transmitting synchronization signals and/or reference symbols to the user equipment on the secondary carrier less often than on the primary carrier, resources of the secondary carrier may be conserved, energy efficiency of the secondary carrier may be increased, and/or interference with other cells may be reduced or prevented.

  • Patent number: 9621509
Abstract: Systems and methods for segmenting network traffic using virtual media access control (vMAC) addresses are disclosed. An intermediary device establishes a plurality of traffic domains to segment network traffic. The device generates a plurality of vMAC addresses to assign to the traffic domains. Each of the vMAC addresses includes an identifier of a traffic domain corresponding to the traffic domain to which the vMAC address is assigned. The device receives, from a second device, an ARP request to determine a MAC address to transmit data packets. The device selects, from the plurality of virtual MAC addresses, the virtual MAC address to use as the MAC address in a response based on an IP address identified via the ARP request. The device transmits, to the second device, a response to the request identifying, as the MAC address, the selected vMAC address of a traffic domain.

  • Patent number: 9590816
Abstract: A packetized streaming media delivery network carries many “streams” of differing media content. They often are from multiple sources and of different media types. The invention consists of a scalable hardware and/or software computing element resolving the network traffic into its individual streams for focused, simultaneous, and continuous real-time monitoring and analysis. The monitoring and analysis consists of delay factor and media loss rate which measure the cumulative jitter of the streaming media within the delivery network and the condition of the media payload. These measurements form a powerful picture of network problem awareness and resolution. The delay factor objectively indicates the contribution of the network devices in the streams' path, allowing for both problem prediction and indication. In one example, tapping a packetized network at various locations allows for correlation of the same-stream performance at various network points to pinpoint the source(s) of the impairment(s).

  • Patent number: 9577773
Abstract: A station assisted interference measurement scheme is described containing a system and devices that facilitate the measurement of interference levels or path loss values between nearby potentially interfering transmitting transceivers and candidate victim receivers. Such interference levels or path loss values are used to assist intelligent assignment of communication channels in an authorized shared access system (ASAS). Using control signals from a controller of the ASAS, suspected interfering devices transmit specialized signals on specific channels at specific times that may have a waveform and/or bit format different from typically used data communication signals. A candidate victim receiver may receive one or more of the specialized signals and measure a signal parameter of the received specialized signal.
