  • Patent number: 5615249
Abstract: A system for servicing call establishment requests in a cellular telephone system on a priority basis is described. In this system, a base station receives a call establishment request either via an external MTSO (mobile telephone switch office) or PSTN (public telephone switch network), or internally from a call establishment request, broadcasted by a mobile unit associated with a first subscriber within the cell of interest. Both the base station and the mobile unit are located in a cell (i.e., the cell of interest) of the cellular telephone system. The base station determines whether it has a free channel to service the call establishment request. If the base station does not have a free channel to service the call establishment request, then a call processor determines a service priority level of the first subscriber. This service priority level is communicated to the base station.

  • Patent number: 5606597
Abstract: A configuration parameter programming system of a telephone is presented which is executable by an end user or service person. The configuration parameter programming system is accessed through the use of a dial memory register or other data transfer means, and a control means. In this way, the Dial Pulse Rate, Dial Pulse Make/Break Ratio, DTMF Duration, DTMF Inter Digit Delay, Pause Duration and other configuration parameters of a telephone are programmable after manufacture without requiring hardware modification.

  • Patent number: 5604788
Abstract: A wireless messaging system (10) is provided that comprises a wireless message distribution system (12) which receives wireless messages from telephones (14), computer message entry program (16) or telephone-assisted service terminals (18). The wireless messages are sent through a radio frequency transmission (20) to users (22). In addition, the wireless messages are replicated and sent to a wireless message gateway server (24). The wireless message gateway server (24) assembles electronic mail messages including the wireless message and transmits the electronic mail messages to electronic mail networks (26), (28), or (30) such that the user (22) may access his wireless messages through his electronic mailbox within a customer electronic mail system (32).

  • Patent number: 5583917
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for semipermanent storage of a service profile in personal communication systems. A service profile which defines the services accessible to the user is tied to each user in the system. The service profiles are stored permanently in the home database of the respective user. To reduce signalling in the network, parts of the permanent service profiles are copied in order to be stored semipermanently in other databases according to the disclosed method. Enquiries relating to an answering user are tracked by the database unit in the home network part of the answering user in order to detect the geographic position of the network nodes which originate the enquiries and the respective enquiry intensity. Information from the service profile of a respective answering subscriber is copied and sent to the database unit which is located closest to the enquiring node when the enquiry intensity has reached a certain value from one and the same node.

  • Patent number: 5584056
Abstract: A dual-bandwidth cellular telephone switching apparatus comprising a signal receiver, the signal receiver including an antenna for receiving radio frequency signals on a field corresponding to frequency bands of at least two different cellular telephone systems, a duplexer for passing a desired frequency band component of output signals from the antenna, a low-noise amplifier for amplifying a feeble signal from the duplexer, a band pass filter for passing a desired frequency band component of an output signal from the low-noise amplifier, a synthesizer for detecting a channel being presently serviced and a mixer for mixing an output signal from the band pass filter with an output signal from the synthesizer to produce an intermediate frequency signal. The dual-bandwidth cellular telephone switching apparatus further comprises a switching section including first and second switching circuits.

  • Patent number: 5577103
Abstract: A method of providing a subscriber in a cellular telephone network with information from a subscriber service profile. The network includes a mobile station having a visual display, a mobile switching center (MSC), and a home location register (HLR) for storing the subscriber service profile. A request for the service profile information is transmitted from the mobile station to the mobile switching center and the home location register. The mobile switching center retrieves the service profile information from the home location register. The service profile information is appended to a short message service (SMS) message which is transmitted from the mobile switching center to the mobile station. The service profile information is then provided in a voice message or displayed on the visual display of the mobile station.

  • Patent number: 5566225
Abstract: A system is arranged to a) monitor the flow of data communicated within a session between a mobile end-user device and a host via a connection which includes a wireless link established over a wireless network b) detect a disabled condition of the wireless link c) in response thereof, simulates a functioning mode of the session, and d) when the wireless link is restored, resume the session between the mobile end-user device and the host at the stage where the disabled condition occurred, as if a disconnect never occurred.

  • Patent number: 5559863
Abstract: The present invention is directed to enable a car telephone to receive incoming calls and a telephone answering device to be activated even though the ignition key is removed. A housing is fitted onto a car telephone cradle and a handset is placed on the top of the housing. When there is a call, a rotary arm which is coupled to a motor is moved, and a magnet attached to the tip of the rotary arm opens a reed relay, which corresponds to a hook switch to form a loop circuit. Then an outgoing message is transmitted via a speaker, and an incoming message from a caller is recorded via a microphone.
