    Abstract: A wireless apparatus and system automatically processes digital “messages” to a remote system at a predefined destination address. Initial transmission occurs via a wireless network, and the apparatus process allows the simultaneous capture of new messages while transmissions are occurring. The destination address may correspond to an e-mail account, or may correspond to a remote server from which the message can be efficiently processed and/or further distributed. In the latter case, data packaged with the digital message is used to control processing of the message at the server, based on a combination of pre-defined system and user options. Secured Internet access to the server allows flexible user access to system parameters for configuration of message handling and distribution options, including the option to build named distribution lists that are downloaded to the wireless apparatus.

    Abstract: Actuators are used to move a variety of objects to desired positions. It is generally desirable that they can do this quickly without exhibiting overshoot or ringing. Some actuators are required to respond very quickly and examples of these are voice coil drivers used to move lenses in autofocus cameras provided in everyday devices such as smart phones and tablets. A rapid two step controller scheme had already been disclosed by Analog Devices Inc. While the scheme works well, it can only be used reliably if the resonant frequency of the actuator is known to within 2 or 3%. The inventors have discovered that the resonant frequency of an actuator unexpectedly changes as a function of position. This disclosure provides ways of modifying the control scheme to cope with changes in resonant frequency.

The coupled gate structure may include two, three or four transistors. During charge accumulation in the pixel, overflow charge may pass from a photodiode to the coupled gate structure to be selectively routed to one of a plurality of paths. Timing of control signals for a subset of the transistors in the coupled gate structure may alternate such that only one transistor is active to pass charge to one of the plurality of paths at any given time. Depending on the selected path, overflow charge may be routed to a pixel voltage supply or to one or more storage nodes in the pixel. Pixels may also include a dual-gain structure, which may provide additional charge storage capacity.
