  • Patent number: 6074182
Abstract: A direct drive cooling fan employs a specially configured, X-shaped mounting chassis to securely mount the drive motor. The preferred fan comprises a parallelepiped housing protectively enclosing an internal subframe securing a drive motor and a propeller. A reinforcing edge circumscribes the housing front and rear to facilitate guard coupling. The subframe comprises two parallel elongated brackets, each formed of channel material. Each strut comprises several regularly spaced apart follower slots to which the X-shaped mounting chassis is mounted. The preferred mounting chassis comprises a pair of complimentary brackets welded to opposite sides the drive motor shell. The brackets comprise a curved, interior cradle that flushly mates with the circumferential periphery of the drive motor. The brackets have wings at either end of the cradle terminating in tabs laying parallel with the subframe brackets. An attachment hole on each tab allows for the attachment of the mounting chassis to the subframe brackets.

  • Patent number: 6062193
Abstract: A process for controlling the quantity of fuel injected into a diesel engine comprising at least one cylinder includes the steps of determining the pressure variation (.increment.P) within at least one cylinder around a specific time of the engine cycle, for two successive cycles (C.sub.1, C.sub.2) having different injection characteristics; deducing therefrom the difference between the quantity of fuel actually injected into the cylinder and a theoretical quantity of fuel; and adjusting the injection parameters so as to balance in real time the quantity of fuel actually injected with the quantity of fuel that is to be theoretically injected. The process is preferably implemented during stabilized running of the engine.

  • Patent number: 6062822
Abstract: In a high-pressure cleaning apparatus comprising an electric motor, a high-pressure pump driven by the electric motor, and an automatic switching-off means for the electric motor including a switch actuatable by an actuating element moveable in dependence upon the pressure or the flow of the liquid being conveyed by the high-pressure pump, in order to reduce the switching expenditure it is proposed that a switching-off element which is manually actuatable on the high-pressure cleaning apparatus be associated with the same switch so that in one position of the switching-off element, the switch cuts off the power supply to the electric motor independently of the pressure or the flow of the liquid being conveyed, whereas in the other position the switch is actuatable by the actuating element.

  • Patent number: 6058907
Abstract: A direct injection system and control methodology for two-cycle crankcase compression engines wherein the injection timing is advanced from those normally utilized to avoid the incomplete combustion that results from the prior art method. The injection timing is advanced so that it occurs while the exhaust port is still open but it is timed in such a way that the injected fuel will not be swept out of the exhaust port before the exhaust port closes. The initiation of injection timing is adjusted in response to certain parameters such as engine speed and the volume of intake air flow. In addition, the effects of other cylinders sharing a common exhaust manifold is also compensated for.

  • Patent number: 6055972
Abstract: An air-fuel ratio sensor of a limit current type is used for an air-fuel ratio feedback control. When the air-fuel ratio sensor is in a semi-activated state, the air-fuel ratio sensor is driven into an electromotive force generating mode by a current externally applied thereto thereby to shift an electromotive force changing point so that an air-fuel ratio at which the electromotive force changes stepwisely is shifted from the stoichiometric ratio point to a lean zone. When the air-fuel ratio sensor is in a completely activated state, the air-fuel ratio sensor is applied with a voltage to produce a limit current varying with an air-fuel ratio so that a feedback control is performed based on the advanced control theory by using a linear current output characteristics.
