  • Patent number: 9326113
Abstract: A method for a network device to process a third-party call can be applied in a scenario where a third party originates a call when a called terminal is in a call process. The network device extracts a calling phone number of the third party and notifies the calling phone number to the called terminal. The called terminal has activated a call waiting service. The network device receives a processing suggestion on the third-party call returned by the called terminal and processes the third-party call according to the processing suggestion.

  • Patent number: 9319952
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for synchronizing operational state during hybrid network operation. In one embodiment, the various access technologies that makeup the hybrid network not fully synchronized. Thus, a wireless device operating in a mixed mode must be capable of managing synchronization across multiple access technologies. The wireless device is configured to estimate an expected “tune-away” period when disengaging with a one access technology to address events (for example, link maintenance, calls, data, and the like) or perform monitoring on a second access technology. The estimate is then used by the device to adjust its operational parameters on the technology from which it is tuning away. This ensures smooth switching away from and back to the various network technologies.

  • Patent number: 9295026
Abstract: A location of a network user computing device is determined relative to a location of a point of interest. If the user device is determined to be stationary, the user device is monitored for movement, the movement resulting in re-determining the location of the user device relative to a location of the point of interest. If the user device is determined to be moving, the velocity of the user device is matched with a predetermined velocity, and a preliminary estimated time of arrival to the point of interest is determined based on the predetermined velocity matched to the user device. At a later time that is based on a function of the preliminary estimated time of arrival, an estimated time of arrival to the point of interest is verified based on the predetermined velocity matched to the user device.

  • Patent number: 9267978
Abstract: Various aspects of the disclosure are directed to methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for identifying network events. In one aspect, a method includes monitoring signal characteristic values for signals transmitted over a communications channel of a power line communications system and determining that a signal level value for the channel is less than a threshold signal level value for the channel. In response to determining that the signal level value for the channel is less than the threshold signal level value for the channel, a signal to noise ratio for the communications channel is computer and it is determined that the signal to noise ratio for the channel exceeds a threshold value. In response to determining that the signal to noise ratio for the communications channel exceeds the threshold value, storing data received over the communications channel is stored as valid data.

  • Patent number: 9258432
Abstract: The system and method alters the data delivery service plan of a subscriber in response to a network degradation event that negatively affects the subscriber's plan during transportation (e.g. in flight). In response to the subscriber's request, the system and method grants the subscriber access to the in-flight network and/or data during the flight. Additionally, the system and method monitors and detects network degradation events during the flight. If an event occurs that negatively affects the subscribers plan during the flight, the system and method determines a time extension for the subscriber to access the network and/or data based on the duration of the network degradation event. The system and method also modifies the subscriber's plan based on the determined time extension and notifies the subscriber about the network degradation event and plan modification. The plan modification may credit the subscriber additional time, data, and/or services.

  • Patent number: 9215101
Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting and analyzing discontinuities in a communications link are disclosed. In some embodiments, the systems and methods operate to project signals into the communications link and detecting reflected signals. The reflected signals are processed to define a transformed distribution of the reflected signals. A peak value in the transformed distribution is selected and a local fit to the selected peak value is performed using a model function. A residue distribution is formed based upon the transformed distribution and the model function. A location of the discontinuity based upon the residue distribution is identified, and another peak value from the residue distribution is selected. Additional systems and methods are disclosed.
