Abstract: A fire barrier material comprising a combination of materials capable of melting progressively as the temperature rises under fire conditions, namely a relatively high melting devitrifying frit, one or more substances to reduce melt and flow temperature of the frit and, optionally, an intumescent substance and/or a pH buffer. The material is particularly suitable for use in thermoplastic materials.
Abstract: This invention relates to a corrosion inhibiting composition for use in commercial, institutional, and industrial water systems. The compositions comprise a mixture of (1) a fatty acid ester, and (2) a polyalkylene glycol, preferably polyethylene glycol. These compositions are useful in inhibiting the corrosion of metals such as steel, copper, and brass, which are exposed to water.
Abstract: A colloidal suspension has a metal core surrounded by a surfactant. The colloidal suspension is about 0.5 micron to about 3-4 microns in diameter. The colloidal suspension acts as a lubricant and protects surfaces in rolling and/or sliding contact. When mixed with a lubricant, the colloidal suspension increases the operating life of the lubricated item. The colloidal suspension preferably is tin or bismuth nano-phase particles encased in a surfactant, preferably oleyl sarcosinate, N-coco sarcosinate, sodium sulfonate, petroleum sulfonate, or octadecenyl amine.
Abstract: The invention relates to process for dimerizing olefinic hydrocarbon feedstock, to hydrocarbon compositions and to fuel components produced by the process. According to the invention, fresh olefinic hydrocarbon feedstock is fed to a reaction zone of a system including at least one reaction zone and at least one distillation zone. The olefinic hydrocarbon feedstock is contacted with an acidic catalyst in the presence of an oxygenate at conditions in which at least a part of the olefins dimerizes. The effluent from the reaction zone is conducted to the distillation zone where dimerized reaction product is separated from effluent, and at least one flow comprising oxygenate is withdrawn from the side of at least one distillation column. The flow is circulated from distillation zone back to dimerization. The reaction mixture is recovered and optionally hydrogenated to form a parafinic reaction product.

Abstract: Hydroxalkylaminium polysulfides are used to provide cold stability to ammonium polysulfide solutions. Hydroxyalkylaminium sulfides or polysulfides also are used to solubilize unwanted sulfur. Preferred aminium ions are monohydroxyalkylaminium ions, preferably monoethanolaminium ions. The synthetic wax composition is most preferably formed from alpha olefin monomers and oligomers under free radical conditions at relatively low pressures to yield a highly branched polymer wax having congealing and melting points lower than the starting alpha olefin material and a higher molecular weight.

Abstract: The present invention is a candle. Abstract: A process and apparatus for industrial-scale preparation of an emulsified fuel including a water phase in a continuous organic phase which contains less than 20% by volume of water, and at least one additive necessary for forming the emulsified fuel. The fuel is formed by mixing and homogenizing the organic phase and the additives, forming a volume V, inside an homogenization tank with internal circulation rate Qc, such that Qc/V≧100 h−1, circulating the homogenized fluid in a branch loop emerging from the tank at a rate Qcirc, and through at least one emulsifying system located on said loop, at a rate such that 0 h<V/Qcirc≦2 h, feeding the aqueous phase into the branch loop upstream of the emulsifying system, and maintaining the homogenization in the tank and the circulation of the liquid in the branch loop until the emulsion acquires a desired characteristic of storage stability.

Abstract: An additive concentrate for improving the lubricity of low sulfur fuels comprises an additive composition diluted in an aromatic solvent, said composition comprising the reaction product of a first glyceride possessing an unsaturated fatty acid content of at least about 40 mole %, based on the total weight of fatty acid present in the first glyceride, and an iodine number of greater than 35, a second glyceride possessing an unsaturated fatty acid content of less than about 20 mole %, based on the total weight of the fatty acids present in the second glyceride, and an iodine number of less than 35, and, at least one alkanolamine. The concentrate remains fluid and stable at low temperatures and, when added to low sulfur fuels, improves lubricity, enhances fuel economy and minimizes engine deposits.
