  • Patent number: 4061304
Abstract: A surgical chair for a doctor embodying an infinitely elevationally adjustable seat connected with a support column, a stand tube arranged within the support column, at which there is attached a base frame equipped with rollers and a lifting device within the stand tube. The lifting device is operatively connected with the support column and can be unblocked by a lever system so that the seat, depending upon the degree of loading thereof, is elevationally adjustable. A foot pedal located between two overhang members of the base frame is arranged with its upper edge at most 4 centimeters above the floor and with adjustable freedom of movement with respect to the floor. The foot pedal is secured by a lever to an angle lever pivotably mounted at the stand tube and acts upon a plunger of the lifting device. • Patent number: 4060215
Abstract: A handle for a paint brush or similar tool which facilitates the removal of the paint brush from a display device where the brushes are stacked on a cantilever-type display arm. The paint brush handle includes a generally vertical slot adapted to slidably engage a flat, generally vertically oriented cantilever arm to maintain the brushes in general relative alignment along the arm. The slot in each paint brush handle includes a pair of upwardly converging canted surfaces on the bottom end of the slot to facilitate removal of the brushes from the cantilever arm, for example by a customer desiring to purchase a brush. The paint brush handle may include a hollow interior, or the handle may be solid throughout in which case the canted surfaces terminate in a generally central crown. A generally circular aperture is provided at the upper end of the slot to define a "keyhole" slot so that the brushes also may be displayed on a hanger having a circular cross-section.

  • Patent number: 4057986
Abstract: A portable tamperproof and battery-powered alarm device used for locking in place, objects which need to be restrained from theft. The device is ideal for locking bicycles, mini-bikes, motor cycles, and the like, due to its portability and versatility. The device includes a casing for an alarm and operative circuit therefor and an object-restraining member. Once the device is activated by an internal switch, any interruptions of the circuit, such as breaking of the restraining member, cause an audible alarm to sound continuously until the device is manually reset. The locking and alarm device is a completely separate unit from the object-restraining member, and thus the latter may be readily replaced as needed.

  • Patent number: 4057210
Abstract: An article-holding, double-sling kit comprising four strips of thin, flexible material. Each one of a longer pair of strips contains a plurality of apertures along its entire length and through which hanging line is interlaced. One of these longer strips contains at least two parallel slots, proximate its center, through which the second is interwoven in crossed configuration. These strips are flexible in one direction and substantially rigid in the 90.degree.-opposite direction. Of the second pair of strips, shorter than the first pair, each containing a plurality of apertures, a first is foldable upon itself and serves as a slide to gather the double-sling hanging lines proximate to the article; the second shorter strip functions as a cleat through the apertures of which the four ends of line are reversibly interlaced to form a hanging loop.

  • Patent number: 4052944
Abstract: A portable desk for the convenience of invalids, traveling men or others who do not have access to other desk surfaces. The lower portion of the desk is a pillow-like portion of flexible material which forms a yieldable container which is partially filled with a dry, flowable material, such as expanded styrofoam beads, particles or the like. The casing portion is secured at the top to a piece of sub-covering of suitable size, which in turn is secured to a hard, planar sheet of material by adhesive, glue or other suitable means. The styrofoam beads may be shifted or shuffled about until the pillow-like portion adjusts to the contour of the surface on which it is to be used. An upstanding abutment secured along one side of the desk top forms a stop for books, pencils and the like to rest against.

  • Patent number: 4050346
Abstract: A first element is adapted to be received and anchored in a hole of a structure; and a second element has a first portion located in the hole and secured in the first element, and a second elongated portion which extends outwardly from the hole. An adjustable element is mounted on the second portion for movement in direction of the elongation of the latter and is operative to position an object on the second portion at any of a plurality of distances from the structure. In order to protect the first and second elements from corrosion, an axially yieldable protective sleeve which surrounds the aforementioned second portion intermediate the structure and the object is provided with a tubular end section which sealingly engages a tubular extension section which is provided on the adjustable element. At least one of these sections overlaps the other and thereby provides mutual sealing contact at any of the distances which has been selected for the object.

  • Patent number: 4043529
Abstract: A manually operable four-way seat adjuster mechanism comprising a horizontally movable carriage assembly, and a seat assembly connected to said carriage by bell-cranks. The bell-cranks at each side of the carriage assembly are connected by links, at least one of which in turn is provided with notches, and a correspondingly notched latch lever retains the link in adjusted latched position. Torsion bars interconnect bell-cranks at opposite sides of the carriage, each comprising a rod extending through a closely fitted tube, the ends of which are fixed to the bell-cranks. The ends of the rods are flattened and fixed to opposite sides of the carriage. A strong balance spring assists the bell-cranks, and the geometry is such as to provide a substantially uniform lifting torque to the seat throughout its range of adjustment.

  • Patent number: 4041833
Abstract: A cap assembly for a bolt having a head and a threaded shank with a nut threaded on the shank including a metal retainer member of substantially U-shape having a base portion and a pair of legs extending therefrom. Each of said legs has a pair of relatively sharp vertical edges thereon and a threaded opening in the base portion for threaded engagement with the bolt. A metal cap member having a top wall portion and a cylindrical wall portion is fitted over the legs of the U-shaped member. The cap and retainer are dimensioned so that when the cap member is assembled on the retainer, the legs of the retainer will be compressed inwardly slightly so that the inherent resiliency of the legs will serve to create a tight frictional engagement between the legs and the cap.
