  • Patent number: 9918884
Abstract: In one example, a sensor system of a patient monitoring system includes a voiding sensor that includes an electrical circuit configured to be transitioned from a first impedance state to a second impedance state in response to a voiding event in an absorbent region of an absorbent article worn by a patient. The sensor system also includes one or more processors configured to: determine, based on whether the impedance state of the electrical circuit is open or closed, that the voiding event has occurred; and generate, based at least in part on the occurrence of the voiding event, patient status data of the patient. The sensor system also includes a communication module configured to wirelessly transmit, via a relay module, the patient status data to a remote monitoring device that is distinct from the relay module.

  • Patent number: 9916753
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods in which a controllable device transfers to the remote device, such as to a remote control application (“app”) located on a smartphone, a data structure identifying various functions that can be controlled by a remote device, together with the identity of the signal type that will achieve the desired operation. The remote device, upon accepting input directly from the remote device, can then allow the remote device user to select how controls of the various functions are to be configured and presented to, or otherwise selectively arranged for a user on a user interface of the remote device. In this way, the present disclosure provides a single highly customizable system. Distributors, resellers, and/or manufacturers of various electronic devices will be able utilize the same controllable device instructions, yet visually distinguish its brand name from other solutions using the same instructions.

  • Patent number: 9916747
Abstract: An allergy warning and protection system and method to proactively warn a user and protect a dependent individual, such as a child, suffering from allergies. The system comprises a beacon housed within a wearable, such as a bracelet, that is worn by the dependent. The beacon has an associated identifier that is linked to data stored on a server that corresponds to the allergy and sensitivity levels of the dependent individual with an allergy, indicating that the child is allergic to peanuts, eggs, gluten and/or other allergens. When in use, the beacon transmits identification data to a handheld device operated by a user which is utilized to retrieve the allergy and other confidential information, such as emergency contact information, from the server and to issue an alert notification to the user. In a preferred embodiment, a layer of privacy is provided so that a user must first be “trusted” before receiving confidential information about a person with allergies.

  • Patent number: 9908495
Abstract: A safety system for a vehicle includes an imaging sensor configured to be disposed at a vehicle so as to have an exterior field of view external of the equipped vehicle. An image processor is operable to process image data captured by the imaging sensor to detect a vehicle exterior the equipped vehicle and to determine if a collision between the detected vehicle and the equipped vehicle is pending. Responsive to such determination of the pending collision, a safety feature of the vehicle is triggered before any actual impact occurs. The triggered safety feature is a reversible adjustment of a seat headrest, a seat belt, a seat setting or a door lock of the equipped vehicle. If the pending collision is avoided or otherwise does not occur, the adjusted safety feature returns to its unadjusted condition that existed prior to such determination of the pending collision.

  • Patent number: 9882511
Abstract: A piezoelectric device is connected in parallel with a diode, and outputs a power generation voltage when depressed. When the power generation voltage exceeds a first threshold voltage, a load switch control circuit makes a load switch be conductive, and when the generated voltage becomes lower than a second threshold voltage, the load switch is cut off. Further, when depression is released, the piezoelectric device is discharged by the diode such that the amount of charge remaining in the piezoelectric device becomes zero.

  • Patent number: 9870495
Abstract: A system and method comprises a plurality of RF antennas having beams directed to a storage space in which medical items having RFID tags are stored. Each antenna is controlled to inject energy at a different frequency in a frequency-hopping set of frequencies to activate the tags. The return signal strength is monitored and for each tag that responds, the antenna location, frequency of the injected energy, identification response, and signal strength are stored as identification data. If a tag fails to respond in new scans, the antenna at which the tag last responded receives all the frequency-hopping frequencies in an attempt to locate the tag. If new tags are found, they are compared to a list of expected new medical items.
