Abstract: A process and a device for continuously drying protein-containing sludge, in particular sewage sludge, in a fluidised bed (20) inside a drying container (13). A drying gas flows through the fluidised bed (20) while partially de-watered sludge (6) in granulate form (21) is added to the fluidised bed (20) while dried sludge (10) is withdrawn therefrom. The granules (21) are formed without admixture of dried substances and are granulated preferably at the same time as they are pressed. Sewage sludge may thus be dried without admixture or recycling of dried substances, so that a highly efficient plant is obtained. In addition, a granulated dry material is produced which may be used in various ways.
Abstract: A portable container (10) suitable for housing and protecting vials (Y) ampoules and other small vessels containing pharmaceutical or veterinary preparations such as vaccines, which are sensitive to changes in temperature or to relatively high temperature, is provided. The container (10) comprises a layered wall (11) defining a centrally located cavity (13) for receiving the vial (Y). The wall (11) includes an outer thermally insulating layer (12) surrounding a substance (14) for providing a passive cold source to the cavity (13) and two spaced inner layers (16 and 18) of a relatively hard plastics material providing an annular chamber wherein the substance (14) is received.

Abstract: Disclosed is a drying nozzle for realizing a high-efficiency drying device capable of drying an object to be processed to a sufficient degree. Abstract: A unitary hose connection for servicing an automobile air conditioning system is provided. A first connector is disposed at one first end and is connectable with a low pressure service port of an automobile air conditioning system. A second connector is disposed at the other end of the hose and is selectively connectable with both a pressure gauge and a can tap valve. The can tap valve is attachable to a can of compressed refrigerant. When a pressure gauge is attached to the second connector and the first connector is attached to the service port, the pressure of the refrigerant in the automobile air conditioning system can be measured. When the second connector is attached to the can tap valve, the compressed refrigerant in the can may be introduced into the automobile air conditioning system to thereby service the system. The hose connection, pressure gauge, can tap valve, and can of refrigerant may be packaged together in a kit.
Abstract: A fluid delivery apparatus provides for controlled delivery of fluids into a fluid system. The fluid delivery apparatus can allow a defined volume of fluid to be delivered to the fluid system cleanly, minimizing fluid waste and spillage. The fluid delivery apparatus can provide a mechanical advantage allowing the fluid to be delivered easily and efficiently to a pressurized fluid system. The apparatus can have a piston and handle arrangement that can reduce wear of the apparatus.
Abstract: A system (10) is disclosed for cleaning a vertical furnace (12) pedestal (34) and cap (36) including at least one inlet conduit (40) in fluid communication with a pressurized cleaning medium source (46). The system also includes at least one exhaust conduit (42) in fluid communication with a negative pressure source (48). A boat assembly (30) may be positioned such that the at least one conduit (40) is operable to direct cleaning medium at the boat assembly (30) to dislodge contaminate particles associated with the boat assembly. The exhaust outlet (42) then evacuates the cleaning medium and any dislodged contaminate particles. The system may operate automatically within a closed processing environment and after each process cycle.

Abstract: In a process for drying microporous, fluid-containing particles, the heat required for increasing the temperature is supplied by convection by reducing the interfacial tension of the fluid, preferably to 0 to 1/10, in particular to 0 to 1/20, of the interfacial tension of the fluid at room temperature, by appropriately increasing the temperature at from close to the critical pressure to supercritical pressure of the fluid.
