  • Patent number: 9966055
Abstract: The pedal steel guitar has a plurality of strings strung across the body, with at least one multi-element transducer positioned proximate the strings. At least one foot pedal or knee lever, carried by the body and being physically disengaged from the plurality of strings, is coupled to at least one sensor that produces an electronic sensor signal when the pedal or lever is moved. A digital signal processor receives the electronic transducer signal and the electronic sensor signal and operates on the electronic transducer signal in the digital domain. The processor uses the electronic sensor signal to manipulate at least one tonal property of the electronic sensor signal. The digital signal processor produces an audio output. The digital signal processor is programmed to change the manner in which the digital signal processor manipulates the at least one tonal property based on programming information received through a programming input.

  • Patent number: 9905212
Abstract: An arched top bridge upper section including a wood top section slotted to accept a string saddle that may be plastic, bone or similar material. The wood section is laminated or affixed to a lower metal section. A slot completely through the wood section exposes a top flat surface of the metal section. A piezo pickup element installed in the slot below a solid or segmented string saddle element is pressed uniformly against the metal section by string pressure on the string saddle to ensure even response on all strings. Transfer of string energy is more efficient than standard all-wood construction, resulting in greater sustain of plucked notes and a broader frequency response. An arch top guitar utilizing this bridge construction has more similar tonal and sustain characteristics to a typical flattop acoustic guitar while consistent contact with the piezo element results in even string-to-string output and response.

  • Patent number: 9881596
Abstract: A method and system for analyzing patterns in the relationships of notes of an input piece of music. The method comprises generating a set of the most frequently occurring note pitches in ascending pitch order that matches an interval pattern, and detecting out-of-key pitches that lie outside of this interval pattern. One or more potential key sequence bifurcations are identified which represent a list of possible key sequences according to forwards and backwards analysis. By finding patterns of repetition in the chordal sequences that may be generated according to these key sequence bifurcations, a key sequence that allows the most frequently recurring chord sequences may be chosen. Chord sequences may be analyzed by using ghost chords, temporary harmonic structures that are created, updated and finalized over time according to a combination of essential and inessential note fragments. The method further comprises identifying non-harmony pitches according to the analyzed chord sequence.
