Each line section has an input end and an output end. A transmission line exhibits a natural notch at a particular frequency. A first varactor is coupled between the input ends of the first and second sections. A second varactor is coupled between the output ends of the first and second sections. A D.C. bias voltage across the varactor diodes controls the center frequency of the resulting notch filter.

    Abstract: A heat sink for a magnetically tuned filter provides an insulative gap between the magnetic coils and the magnetic housing and pole pieces and has a thermally conductive plate in thermal contact with the magnetic coils with a flange portion extending exterior of the magnetic housing so that heat generated by the magnetic coils is conducted for dissipation external of the magnetic housing. The thermally conductive plate has a central opening in which a filter housing is situated, has a plurality of channels between the central opening and the outer edge to provide for electrical and mechanical access to the filter housing, and has a radial insulative gap from the central opening to the outer edge to prevent the formation of eddy currents in the thermally conductive plate.

    Abstract: The microwave frequency characteristics of a cavity having a center conducting element and conducting cavity are modified by changing the length of the center conducting element. The resonating structure is comprised of a coaxial member providing the principal resonating surfaces. One end of the coaxial member is coupled to a wall of the cavity surrounding the center conducting member with provision for access to the interior of the center conducting member from a position exterior to the cavity. The second end of the center conducting element is free. In addition, the second end of the resonating element has threads fabricated on an interior surface and a self-locking insert positioned in the threaded portion. A threaded rod is inserted through the self-locking insert and extends beyond the center conducting element into the cavity.

    Abstract: In a still picture recording apparatus such as an electronic still camera, an audio signal compressed in its time base is recorded on a magnetic disk together with a video signal. In order to relate the timing of recording the audio signal to that of the video signal, the audio signal to be recorded is processed in an audio signal processing circuit in response to the manipulation of a manual switch, and the video signal to be recorded is processed in a video signal processing circuit after a required delay time relative to the audio signal, so that the audio signal and the video signal can be recorded in matching relation without the possibility of mismanipulation and without the need for troublesome recording procedures.

The entire resonance system, including the screen, is made of metal and is, therefore, suitable for use at extremely low temperatures.

    Abstract: A very rapidly converging adaptive filter which uses a variable scale factor for each weight of the filter. The value of the variable scale factor is chosen for each iteration and is based upon the sign changes of the incremental weight change. The variable scale factor exhibits large values when no sign changes occur and smaller values when sign changes occur. The new filter provides considerable improvement in increase of convergence rate and decrease in residual errors even in the presence of heavy noise while requiring only a modest increase in hardware.

    Abstract: The present invention provides an automobile antenna system including a high-frequency pick-up device for receiving broadcast waves and which includes a loop antenna or detection electrode element disposed parallel and in close proximity to the marginal edge of the vehicle body and spaced from the marginal edge of the vehicle body within a range represented by 12.times.10.sup.-3 .lambda.(m) where .lambda. is the wavelength of a given broadcast wave measured metric units, to detect surface high-frequency currents on the marginal portion of the vehicle body. The high-frequency pick-up device is connected with a varactor diode to adjust the resonance frequency of the antenna system. The tuned frequency of a receiver is used to vary a voltage applied to the cathode of the varactor diode such that the frequency of the antenna system will coincide with the tuned frequency of the receiver.

    Abstract: A stripline filter resonator structure is provided which exhibits high Q and results in a filter with low insertion loss. The dielectric consists of two sections of dielectric material. A groove shaped as half an ellipse is formed in each of the sections. The surface of the grooves are covered with electrically conductive material. The two grooves are aligned and filled with adhesive material to hold the two dielectric sections together. An elliptically shaped resonator is thus formed in the center of the dielectric sandwich. Ground plane layers are respectively situated on the outer layers of the dielectric sandwich thus forming a stripline resonator structure. This unique resonator structure results in a more uniform current density around the periphery and thus undesired current bunching is correspondingly decreased.
