  • Patent number: 6428063
Abstract: Latch assembly for a vehicle door 10 (FIG. 1) hinged at its leading edge has an L-shaped housing plate 20 to be secured in the trailing inside edge comer of the door and carrying latch mechanism. Inner skin 14 of the door is cut away to admit a striker 18 into a mouth of the plate for engagement by the mechanism to keep the door shut. A projecting abutment rib 28 of the plate adjacent the mouth prevents or resists rearward displacement of the trailing edge of skin 14 which could otherwise obstruct the mouth in the event of impact damage to the door.

  • Patent number: 6416057
Abstract: A brush seal arrangement for sealing cooperation between a shaft and a surrounding member which is relatively rotatable with respect to the shaft. The brush seal includes an annular rotor disposed in surrounding relationship to the shaft and sealed with respect to the housing, and the rotor mounts thereon first and second annular bush members which are disposed in axially spaced relation and which have annular edge portions which create a frictional and sealing engagement with the shaft to nonrotatably and sealingly couple the rotor to the shaft. A passage extends through the rotor for communication with an annular region defined between the annular brushes in surrounding relationship to the shaft, and a pressurized buffer gas is supplied through the passage into the annular region.

  • Patent number: 6412834
Abstract: A window fastener having a mounting base (21), a latching flap (12) moveably coupled thereto, a handle (14) and a latching tongue (15). the handle (14) is movable between first and second positions and is coupled to the latching tongue (15) so that the latching tongue moves the latching flap (18) when the handle (14) moves to a latching position. A movement inducing mechanism (34, 41) operable by the handle (14) causes movement of the flap (12) to occur when the handle is moved from the latching position to a non-latching position.

  • Patent number: 6409179
Abstract: A cable sealing arrangement is provided for limiting the ingress of fluid into a location about a cable, such as a telephone wire enclosure, which generally includes a fitting, a sealing member, and a nut. The cable sealing arrangement provides a fluid-proof seal about a cable through radial expansion of the sealing member. Also, various slitted sealing members are provided each leaving at least one slit formed there through which allows for forced displacement of portions of the sealing member and insertion of a cable thereto. The slitted sealing members obviate the need for threading a sealing member over the entire length of a cable.

  • Patent number: 6390517
Abstract: A door lock (10) having an opening aid (26) has a rotatable lock latch (12), a detent pawl (18) arresting the latter in the latching position, and a driven driving pin (44) which opens the detent pawl (18) and can be blocked against a stop (50). The previously customary solution of providing the stop (50) on the detent pawl (18) restricts the structural design. In order to obtain more scope in the arrangement of the parts, it is proposed to arrange the stop (50) on a separate blocking lever (48) which can be carried along into its blocking position by the detent pawl (18) during the opening.

  • Patent number: 6382687
Abstract: A power-closing motor-vehicle door latch has a housing and a fork engageable around a bolt, formed with an abutment, and pivotal on the housing from an open position through a partially closed position into a fully closed position. A latch pawl engageable with the fork in the partially and fully closed positions can retain the fork therein. A rocker is pivotal on the housing between inner and outer positions and a closing pawl is pivoted on the rocker between an entrainment position engageable with the fork abutment and a freeing position. A crank drive displaces the rocker outward toward the outer position with the closing pawl in the entrainment position so as to pivot the fork from the partially closed position into the fully closed position. • Patent number: 6361050
Abstract: A piston is disclosed having both downwardly and upwardly inclined piston ring grooves, the grooves being angled less than approximately ten degrees with respect to a horizontally extending axis. In a preferred embodiment, the grooves are less than approximately three degrees in inclination and in a most preferred embodiment, the inclination is less than approximately one degree. The grooves for the combustion seal are angled upwardly from an outer diameter of the piston to adjust for thermal drooping of the piston rings received within the grooves. The grooves for the oil-control seal are angled downwardly so that oil is scraped downwardly, but the oil control ring hydroplanes over the oil when the piston moves upwardly.

  • Patent number: 6361054
Abstract: A sealing device for sealing at least two facing surfaces of two adjacent machine elements includes an inflatable sealing tube arranged in a groove in a first surface of a first machine element. The sealing tube can be filled with a medium to which pressure can be applied, and can be inflated by the medium as well as made to rest against a second surface of a second machine element, forming a seal. The ends of the sealing tube are each arranged in an insert piece. The insert pieces are each structured as a sleeve and surround the ends of the sealing tube under elastic pre-stress, forming a seal. The sleeves are each arranged in a recess of the first machine element that extends essentially crosswise to the lengthwise direction of the groove. In the non-pressurized state, the sealing tube and the face of the sleeves that faces the second surface of the second machine element are essentially flush with the first surface of the first machine element.
