  • Patent number: 10149103
Abstract: Once a proximity beacon is installed within a venue, mobile devices receive signals transmitted by the proximity beacon. These mobile devices then report their own locations to an application server. These mobile devices also report a signal strength to the application server, the signal strength associated with the signal from the proximity beacon. The application server determines the location of the proximity beacon by triangulating based on the locations of the mobile devices and on the signal strengths from the mobile devices. The location of the proximity beacon is then transmitted to a front-end device that then displays the location of the proximity beacon on a map along with other locations of other proximity beacons. The map may also display range areas and battery levels of the proximity beacon, and any other data that can be gathered by the application server from the mobile devices or the proximity beacon.

  • Patent number: 10129718
Abstract: This disclosure sets forth techniques that aggregate and analyze data usage of a client device over a communications network. Particularly, data usage may be quantified over a predetermined time interval and used to provide recommendations that instruct a client on techniques for reducing a data usage rate. Recommendations may be presented as visual and/or audible alerts. This disclosure further describes techniques to dynamically alter data usage characteristics of particular data usage events to reduce a current rate of data usage. Computational instructions may dynamically reduce a file size of a multimedia/data file, limit a capability to download a multimedia/data file, or reduce a data usage rate of a multimedia stream via trans-rating or pacing techniques. Additionally, exemplary user interfaces may facilitate customizing data usage monitoring settings. The exemplary user interfaces may enable a client to customize a graphical representation of data usage over a predetermined period of time.

  • Patent number: 10117160
Abstract: When connected to an alternate network, a user device may search for a preferred network when the user device is actively transmitting traffic via the alternate network. As such, the user device may search for, and potentially locate, the preferred network faster than when the user device waits to search for the preferred network after becoming idle. While active, the user device may search for the preferred network for a relatively short duration, in order to limit the amount of time that data flow transmission is interrupted when searching for the preferred network. The user device may search for the preferred network based on a list of search parameters. The list of search parameters may be prioritized differently based on whether the user device is active or idle, and may be based on a quantity of times that the user device has searched for the preferred network.

  • Patent number: 10117052
Abstract: Tracking devices can be associated with safe zones, smart zones, and high risk zones. Safe zones correspond to regions where a likelihood that a tracking device is lost within the safe zone is lower than outside the safe zone. High risk zones correspond to regions where a likelihood that a tracking device is lost within the high risk zone is higher than outside the high risk zone. Smart zones correspond to an expected tracking device, mobile device, or user behavior. Home areas are geographic regions in which a user resides, and travel areas are geographic regions in which a user does not reside. A tracking device can be configured to operate in a mode selected based on a presence of the tracking device within a safe zone, a smart zone, a high risk zone, a home area, or a travel area.

  • Patent number: 10111201
Abstract: A method in a wireless communication device for handling an extended paging cycle. The extended paging cycle is used for receiving a paging message from a core network node. The extended paging cycle is longer than a frame number range of the wireless communications network. The wireless communication device obtains a parameter related to a length of the extended paging cycle. The wireless communication device obtains an information about when the wireless communication device has entered an idle mode. The wireless communication device determines a time period when the wireless communication device is to monitor for the paging message. The determining is based on the parameter related to the length of the extended paging cycle and based on the information about when the wireless communication device has entered the idle mode.
