  • Patent number: 4852259
Abstract: A straight edge cutter guide for use when cutting a web such as wallpaper after it has been hung on a support surface which is normal to or inclined with respect to the horizontal plane comprises a blade, a handle and spirit level indicators. The blade is rigid and has a straight edge extending longitudinally along one edge thereof. The bottom face is flat and has a sufficient area to provide a stable base for the cutter guide. The handle is mounted on said base and has a hand grip portion located above the top face. The hand portion is accessible for use when retaining the base in any required position with its bottom face bearing against a web in use. The level indicators are mounted on the cutter guide so as to be visible when said bottom face is operably located.

  • Patent number: 4852258
Abstract: Apparatus for cutting vegetation with a rotatable head carrying a non-metallic cutting line extended into a cutting plane. Additional line is extended from a supply line coil within the head into the cutting plane without independent operation action. A mechanism in the head feeds a certain incremental length of line whenever the free end of the cutting line is reduced to this length by wear, or otherwise. After the cutting line length is extended to its original preset length, the cutting line is secured automatically against further extension from the head. The incremental line feeder mechanism is actuated by sensing an operating condition of the head, e.g., angular velocity of rotation.

  • Patent number: 4847994
Abstract: A remotely actuated toe nail clipper includes a cylindrical tubular housing which encloses an axially reciprocating plunger rod. A leaf spring type toe nail clipper extends through a slot in a bottom portion of the housing. An actuating lever of the toe nail clipper is in engagement with the plunger rod. A scissor mechanism extends transversely through a slot in an upper portion of the housing for actuating the plunger rod. The device is particularly designed for use by individuals who have difficulty reaching their toe nails with conventional forms of nail clippers. In a second embodiment, the axially movable plunger rod is electrically actuated by a solenoid mechanism. An adjustable telescope is mounted in parallel relation to the cylindrical housing and provides an individual with a clear view of the toe nail clipper.

  • Patent number: 4848000
Abstract: Knife sheath for pivotable knives such that a knife blade is automatically extended as the knife is removed from the sheath. The sheath has front and back faces with connected edges, but having two opposing first and second separated edge areas so that the knife blade may be simultaneously inserted through both separations. After a knife is inserted into the sheath through the separations, the knife is pivoted to enclose the blade in the sheath. As the knife is removed from the sheath, a connecting member adjacent to the upper edge separation causes the blade to extend.

  • Patent number: 4845847
Abstract: An electric shaver has a shaving head and a trimmer handle mounting at its top a trimmer block. The trimmer handle is in the form of a flat plate slidably attached to a flat surface on the outer wall of a shaver housing for vertical movement between an inoperative position and an operative position. Formed in the inner surface of the flat plate trimmer handle is a shallow recess within which is located a trimmer drive interconnecting the trimmer block and a main drive element for the shaving head in order to drive the trimmer block from the same source as the shaving head. The trimmer block includes a stationary blade and a movable blade which define therebetween a cutting plane in parallel relation to the plane of the trimmer handle. This arrangement is to reduce the dimension of the trimmer block and the thickness of the trimmer handle.
