  • Patent number: 7051903
Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing metered amounts of a viscous liquid includes a liquid reservoir and a pump chamber having an opening in communication with the reservoir. A pump mechanism including a pump cylinder with a dispensing channel therethrough is configured with the pump chamber and is movable from a rest to a pressurizing position upon actuation thereof to pressurize liquid within the pump chamber. A dispensing orifice is defined at one end of the dispensing cylinder. A check valve mechanism is disposed in the opening. During shipment or storage, the pump cylinder is locked in pressurized position. When locked in pressurized position, the dispensing channel engages the check valve to seal the opening and also prevent flow from the pump chamber to the dispensing channel.

  • Patent number: 7040361
Abstract: A dispensing nozzle activation lever lock for use with a dispensing nozzle such as a fuel dispensing nozzle having a handle portion, a trigger guard, and a pump activation lever allows an operator to dispense fuel without having to continuously hold the pump activation lever. The fuel pump activation lever lock includes a first and second engagement arm disposed opposite ends of each other. The first engagement end engages the trigger guard, while the second engagement arm engages the pump activation lever such that the fuel pump activation lever lock holds the pump activation lever in a position wherein the fuel pump nozzle continuously dispenses fuel without the operator holding the pump activation lever. The fuel pump activation lever lock also preferably includes a slot sized and shaped to engage a fuel cap such that the fuel pump activation lever lock may be stored within a fuel chamber on a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 7036686
Abstract: A system for dispensing and mixing metered amounts of first and second liquid components of a soft drink. The system comprises a mixing chamber connected by separate feed conduits to pressurized sources of the first and second liquid components. First normally closed valves are located in and demarcate the feed conduits into upstream and downstream sections. The first valves are opened automatically in response to pressure above a threshold level in their respective upstream conduit sections, and are operative when open to deliver a constant flow of liquid through their respective downstream conduit sections to the mixing chamber. Second normally closed valves are located in the upstream conduit sections. The second valves are opened in response to a command signal, and each second valve automatically closes in response to a drop in pressure below the threshold level in the upstream conduit section of the other second valve.

  • Patent number: 7036684
Abstract: A diagonally divided bottle in accordance with the preferred embodiments preferably has a greater width than depth. The bottle includes an outer wall, a diagonal inner wall and a bottom wall. The outer wall and the bottom wall cooperate to form an interior divided by the inner wall. The inner wall intersects the outer wall and to the bottom wall to form a fluid tight seal between the divided interior, with the divided interior defining separate interior chambers. The inner wall is arranged at an angle diagonal to a plane tangential to the front of the bottle such that products contained in each interior chamber are simultaneously viewed when the bottle is observed from the front of the bottle.

  • Patent number: 7025234
Abstract: The present invention relates to apparatus and method for re-circulating high viscosity liquids. The apparatus comprises a recirculating probe coupled to a fluid storage and dispensing vessel by a connector, and the recirculating probe comprises: (a) a dip tube defining an output flow path; (b) an output port; (c) a recirculating port; and (d) a return flow path. The output flow path and the return flow path preferably have substantially equal cross-sectional areas, which reduce or eliminate the unbalance between the discharge pressure in the output line and that in the re-circulation line, and prevent premature wearing-out of the dispensing/recirculating pump.

  • Patent number: 7021501
Abstract: A lock for a liquid dispensing faucet lever includes a locking member that is attachable to the faucet and can be positioned in a locked position where the lever seats in a notch formed therein to prevent moving the lever from the closed position to the open position. The locking member may be attached to the faucet via an opening extending therethrough for receiving the faucet's spout, such that the locking member is rotatable about the spout. The locking member is rotatable from the locked position to an unlocked position in which the lever is not seated in the notch, allowing movement of the lever from the closed position to the open position. The locking member may be configured such that it automatically moves from the unlocked to the locked position upon movement of the lever from the open to the closed position.

  • Patent number: 7014076
Abstract: A syrup delivery system delivers flavored syrup. A solenoid introduces air into the system and into an inlet of an exhaust diverter including a flexible diaphragm. The air exits the exhaust diverter through an outlet for entry into a syrup valve that dispenses the syrup. After dispensing of the syrup, the solenoid blocks air from entering the system. The air from the syrup valve reenters the exhaust diverter through the outlet. The air exits the exhaust diverter through the contaminated air exhaust. The air pushes on the flexible diaphragm, which contacts a seating surface around the inlet, preventing the air from exiting the exhaust diverter through the inlet. The remaining air in the system passes into the expansion tank and is diffused, causing any contaminates in the air to fall to the bottom of the expansion tank. The exhaust air is also subjected to a turbulent air flow path in the expansion tank that further separate any contaminants from the air.

  • Patent number: 7007823
Abstract: The toothpaste dispensing system includes a toothpaste tube and a pair of mating hook and loop fastening strips affixed to opposing surfaces of the toothpaste tube. When the bottom end of the tube is rolled up to dispense toothpaste, the mating hook and loop strips from opposing tube surfaces interlock. Consequently, the emptied, folded portions of the tube are held together, facilitating efficient dispensing of the toothpaste. The hook and loop strips may be permanently affixed to the toothpaste tube, or removably affixed for re-use with multiple tubes.

  • Patent number: 7004354
Abstract: Described are methods and apparatus for promoting and attaining effective hand hygiene based on the employment of a class of packaging which provides timely access to and convenient use of hand sanitizing fluids for hand rubbing. A specific and novel type of package representative of this class found to be particularly useful in facilitating this method is a small, flat, disposable, twin chambered, multi-dose, self-sealing polymer packet designed to be pocket carried by the user. Through simple and direct finger manipulation a measured dose of hand sanitizing fluid is drawn on to the hand in a controlled and wasteless manner from a metering chamber opened for dispersal through a tear in the packet wall. The self-sealing packet reserves and preserves the remaining fluid for future uses and permits the packet to be immediately returned to a pocket without any closure manipulation.

  • Patent number: 7004358
Abstract: A dispenser has a seal disk (30), a valve member (40), a plunger guide block (50), a motor (3), which rotates a cam-follower guide block (60), and an end cam (5). The seal disk (30) has communication holes (31), (32) and a sliding surface (33). The valve member has a sliding surface (41), three plunger holes (42) and three plungers (80) inserted in the plunger holes. The cam-follower guide block (60) has three guide holes (62) that receive cam followers, which each have a body (70) with a ball (75) within a recess (71). The ball (75) contacts the cam surface (5A) of the cam (5) which causes the cam followers and plungers (80) to move back and forth parallel to the dispenser axis. The coefficient of friction between the ball and the recess is less than that between the ball and the cam surface (5A).
