  • Patent number: 6908013
Abstract: There is disclosed a tamper-evident device for a closure assembly adapted to be applied to a mouth of a container, for example, a neck of a bottle. There has been identified a need for an improved tamper-evident device which does not have any parts which are removed upon initial opening and which are liable to be reattached by counterfeits or the like. Accordingly the present invention provides a tamper-evident device comprising a sleeve member which comprises a first portion associated with a second portion by a frangible portion therebetween, and wherein said first portion is adapted to be applied to a mouth and neck portion of a container, and said second portion is associated with a container closure member, and wherein an initial container opening operation causes said frangible portion to fracture or break such that when the container is reclosed said first and second portions are located in a spaced apart relationship to one another.

  • Patent number: 6899283
Abstract: A liquid droplet ejection method and apparatus comprising a base member and a piezoelectric/electrostrictive element. The interior of the base member includes a pressurizing chamber and an ejection opening. When the interval from the last pressurizing operation to the current pressurizing operation exceeds a predetermined time, applied voltage to the piezoelectric/electrostrictive element is increased at a first increase rate so that liquid within the pressurizing chamber is pressurized for ejection at a first pressurizing increase rate. When the interval from the last pressurizing operation to the current pressurizing operation is shorter than the predetermined time, the applied voltage is increased at a second increase rate smaller than the first increase rate so that the liquid is pressurized for ejection at a second pressurizing rate which is relatively small. This ensures proper pressurization of a liquid whose viscosity increases over time, achieving proper ejections.

  • Patent number: 6889918
Abstract: A fuel injector including a control valve arrangement for controlling fuel pressure within a control chamber comprises a control valve member which is movable between a first position in which the control chamber communicates with a source of high pressure fuel and a second position in which the control chamber communicates with a low pressure fuel drain and communication between the control chamber and the source of high pressure fuel is broken. The control valve arrangement includes a restricted flow path for restricting the rate of flow of fuel from the source of high pressure fuel to the control chamber when the control valve member is moved towards its first position. The provision of the restricted flow path prevents unbalanced hydraulic forces acting on the control valve member when it moves towards its first position, which can otherwise lead to valve needle dither between injecting and non-injecting states.

  • Patent number: 6886761
Abstract: A drip irrigation hose formed with a plurality of outlets for discharging the water at longitudinally-spaced locations along the length of the hose includes a plurality of emitter elements secured to the hose at longitudinally-spaced locations along its length to define a plurality of turbulent flow passageways each in communication with the interior of the hose for discharging water from a hose outlet at a slow rate. Each of the turbulent flow passageways is defined by a relatively elastic first material co-extruded with a relatively inelastic second material both bonded to the hose with the relatively elastic material being pressure-deformable, as compared to the relatively inelastic material, to change the turbulent flow passageway of each emitter element in response to the pressure of the water in the hose at the respective emitter element.
