Abstract: An infant playpen includes a plurality of upright legs, and a first and a second upper side rail assembly supported by the upright legs. Each of the first and a second upper side rail assembly includes at least one elongated segment having an outer surface, and a plurality of positioning regions are defined on the outer surfaces of the elongated segments, each of the positioning regions being configured to locate a connection of a removable accessory on the infant playpen. An infant care system is also disclosed, which includes the infant playpen and a removable accessory installed thereon. One selected positioning region of the first upper side rail assembly can be received in a housing of the removable accessory, and a locking part of the removable accessory is displaced to a locked position that retains the selected positioning region in the housing.

Abstract: A pad, in particular for a mattress in the nursing care and hospital sector has a liquid-impermeable and elastic lower layer and a liquid-permeable and elastic upper layer arranged on the lower layer. The lower layer and the upper layer are surrounded by an outer casing, which has a liquid-impermeable outer casing lower part facing the lower layer and a liquid-permeable outer casing upper part facing the upper layer. The pad is very comfortable to lie and/or sit on and has a high degree of breathability. Moreover, the pad is easy to clean and can accordingly be reprocessed frequently. The pad can be easily and economically retrofitted to improve the lying comfort and the breathability of existing mattresses.

Abstract: A mattress comprises an upper surface and a lower surface opposite the upper surface. The mattress further includes first and second opposing side surfaces extending between the upper surface and the lower surface and third and fourth opposing side surfaces extending between the upper surface and the lower surface and between the first and second opposing side surfaces. A core section is formed by the upper and lower surfaces and first and second opposing core section side surfaces and third and fourth opposing core section side surfaces and an extension extends outwardly from a side surface of the core section. The extension is fixedly connected to or integral with the core section and the extension provides the upper surface with a greater area than the lower surface. The extension is capable of supporting a user without a support structure being positioned below the extension.

Abstract: A portable maternity mat is provided. The portable maternity mat includes at least a first pad and a second pad. Each of the pads has an upper surface and a lower surface. Further, each pad includes a compressible material, such as mattress material. The first pad and the second pad are connected together by a hinged connector. The first pad, the second pad, or a combination of the pads may include a cutout portion through the upper surface. Therefore, a pregnant woman may use the portable maternity mat to lay on their stomach, and may fold the portable maternity mat to move and store the portable maternity mat.

Abstract: An article or apparatus is described for restraining a baby. The article may include a special-purpose sheet, restraint(s) such as strap(s) that are anchored to the sheet and/or to a mattress, and connector(s) such as buckle(s). The sheet is designed to have a plurality of attached bases that allow the restraints to be anchored to the sheet and/or to the mattress. The baby may be placed on the sheet on his back, the restraints may be lightly tightened around the baby, and the connectors at the ends of the restraints may join to lock the baby on his back. The connectors may then be unlocked in the morning so that the baby may be safely retrieved from the sheet. The sheet may also include strap(s) that wrap around the mattress and connect in the front or back.

Abstract: A pad is releasably secured to a bed frame for covering the headboard bracket. The headboard bracket pad includes a padded body having a first panel and a second panel secured together with a flexible pad disposed therebetween. A mounting system is used to selectively attach the padded body to the bed frame to protect humans, walls, painted surfaces and animals from harm and/or injury resulting from an impact with the headboard bracket.

Abstract: The invention features devices for positioning and supporting the limb (e.g., an arm or leg) of a patient. The devices provide adjustable support for, e.g., the upper and lower leg. In addition, the device provides unfettered access to the patient's extremities and joints (e.g., the knee and portions of the leg above and below the knee). The invention further features methods of using the devices during diagnostic review, surgery, and rehabilitation. In addition, the invention features methods of treating a patient having a bone or tissue defect by using a device described herein.

Abstract: A bed frame includes a longitudinal supporting member, a joint arrangement, an upper tubular member having a receiving portion and an upper connecting hole, a lower tubular member having an inserting portion and a lower connecting hole, wherein the inserting portion of the lower tubular member is slidably inserted into the receiving portion of the upper tubular member at a position that the upper and lower connecting holes are coaxially aligned with each other. The joint arrangement includes a frame locker provided at an end of the longitudinal supporting member and an elongated fastener extended through the upper and lower connecting holes to securely fasten with the frame locker so as to securely lock up the upper tubular member, the lower tubular member, and the bed support together.

Abstract: Patient support systems are generally disclosed. An example patient support system may be configured to provide a predictive bed-exit alarm and/or a patient weight. An example embodiment may include a support structure including independently inflatable supports, an inflatable mat beneath the inflatable supports, and pressure detectors associated with the inflatable supports and the inflatable mat. An alarm logic may be configured to initiate a predictive bed-exit alarm sequence upon determining that at least one of the pressures of the inflatable supports is at about its respective unloaded pressure. A patient weight logic may be configured to output a patient weight based at least partially upon a difference between an unloaded pressure and a loaded pressure of the inflatable mat.

Abstract: A bumper pad includes a base attached to a material that extends over the rail and couples as a crib teething rail cover. The bumper pad includes a base, mesh sides, and a teething rail cover. In some embodiments, the sides are separable from the base. In some embodiments, the teething rail cover is separable from the mesh sides. In still other embodiments, the sides are separable from the base and the teething rail cover is separable from the sides. A rail cover includes a rail cover base and at least one pair of fastener straps extending from one side of the rail cover base. The rail cover may also include tie straps and corresponding slits, fastener pads, or loops on the rail cover base. Methods of assembly of the bumper pad and rail cover are also disclosed.

Abstract: A support pillow includes a flexible outer sleeve and a deformable inner cushion positioned wholly inside the outer sleeve. Both the outer sleeve and inner cushion are elongate. The outer sleeve is longer than the inner cushion and defines a pair of free end portions extending beyond the inner cushion. The inner cushion is moveable inside the outer sleeve such that the length of each of the free end portions is adjustable. A gripping device can be moved along each end portion to close the outer sleeve around the inner cushion and fix the length of the free end portion extending beyond the inner cushion. The free end portions extend far enough to enable a user to connect the end portions together to fix the support pillow in a desired shape.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a pillow for supporting and enclosing a portion of the head of a user, the ears in exemplary use. The pillow includes a fabric shell, which in turn encompasses padding of soft compliant material. A pivotable frame is disposed within the shell. In one embodiment, the pivotable frame includes unitary semi-rigid leg, flexible substantially along its entire length. In an alternate embodiment, the pivotable frame includes of a length of a plurality of interconnected leg and joint sections. Each of the joints is connected with two legs and defines a pivot about which the legs rotate, whereby the user can manipulate the pillow from an open state to an enclosed state around a portion of his or her head.

Abstract: Play yards and methods of operating the same are disclosed. A disclosed example includes a collapsible upper frame, a collapsible lower frame, and posts to support the upper frame above the lower frame. The posts include respective tracks. The example also includes a foldable, frameless enclosure operatively coupled to the upper frame, the lower frame and the posts. The enclosure has a plurality of sides and a bottom to define an enclosure volume. The enclosure also has a plurality of corner beads dimensioned for receipt in a respective one of the tracks to secure the enclosure to the posts.

Abstract: Levitation devices are disclosed for use with beds. In one embodiment, the levitation device is configured to facilitate rotation of a mattress with respect to a box spring. In another embodiment, the levitation device is configured to facilitate making a bed which allows sheets and blankets to be tucked between the mattress and the box spring without the need to lift the mattress. In a third embodiment, the levitation device functions as a hybrid device and can be used for making a bed or rotating a mattress.

Abstract: A movable lift device including a rotatable bed which can be lifted or rotated by a user, with laying a user thereon. The movable lift device having a rotatable bed includes a base frame comprising a plurality of wheels installed therein; a post rotatably coupled to the base frame, the post upwardly extended from the base frame a predetermined length in an “L” shape; and a bed comprising a bed part that is able to ascend along the post, the bed part allowing a user to lie thereon. The post rotatably supporting the bed has an “L” shape and the supporting point of the post rotatably supporting the bed is formed in the center of the base frame, such that the structure may be stably maintained even when the bed having the patient lying thereon is rotated, only to prevent an accident of overturning the movable lift device.

Abstract: A transformable bed for examinations in pediatric ophthalmology, especially suitable for the use of general anesthesia when conducting eye examinations, is provided. The bed may include a fixed bed board, a movable bed board, a movable seat, a movable support, a securing strap, and a main frame. The bed may be fixedly connected to the top of the main frame, the movable bed board may be rotationally connected to the top of the main frame, and the movable seat may be rotationally connected to the top of the main frame. The securing strap may be disposed on the movable bed board, in which one end of the movable support may be removably connected to the movable bed board, and another end may be removably connected to the main frame. The transformable bed may function both as an anesthesia bed and a handcart, and may be quickly switched therebetween.

Abstract: A pillow is provided herein which includes a cover having opposing first and second panels. A gusset perimetrically bounds, and joins, the first and second panels. The gusset is formed of an open cell construction. Compliant fill material is disposed within the cover. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a pillow is provided allowing for lateral ventilation between opposing panels. This permits a cooling effect while a user is resting or sleeping.
