  • Patent number: 9852497
Abstract: An aspect of the present invention proposes a solution to allow low-cost flat panel displays without light guides to maintain a high quality image display via enhancement of pixel data to account for non uniform brightness. According to one embodiment, each pixel of a display is mapped to the brightness (intensity) of illumination that reaches the pixel. Regional pixel gains are calculated and applied on a per pixel basis to compensate for the non-uniform brightness across the screen. According to such an embodiment, even low cost flat panel displays experiencing non-uniform brightness can be used to render high quality images.

  • Patent number: 9817477
Abstract: Techniques and systems described herein locate possibly-significant portions of electronic documents. In some examples, gaze movements, e.g., of users' eyes, are tracked while the users read a formatted version of an electronic document. The gaze movement may be analyzed to determine if a reading interruption occurs (e.g., a reading pause or irregularity in a regular reading rate for the user). The reading interruption may occur when the user, while reading, encounters or notices a problem or point of interest in the text. A reading location associated with the reading interruption may be determined in text that is currently displayed. The reading location may be mapped to a location in a standard version of the document. The location may be reported to a centralized entity where statistical analysis can be performed to determine if there is a problem in the document.

  • Patent number: 9715747
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for performing flood-fill operations on vector artwork. In one embodiment, a region under a point of interest (POI) of vector artwork is rasterized and flood-filled, and an initial bounding shape around that area is used as a first guess as to the area to be filled. In other cases, the initial bounding shape is created around some initial area that includes the POI (no rasterization). In any such case, vector objects having bounding shapes that intersect the initial bounding shape are identified and fed into a planar map. After map planarization, a new bounding shape is created around a new area resulting from the planarizing and that includes the POI. In response to that bounding shape not extending beyond the initial bounding shape, a vector-based flood-fill operation can be performed on that new area. The process repeats if a new bounding shape extends beyond previous bounding shape.
