  • Patent number: 11538322
Abstract: An event detection unit (EDU) for detecting an explosive event is provided. The EDU includes different types of sensors for measuring characteristics of an explosive event. The EDU includes an event notification component. The EDU also includes a processor that receives a measurement from the sensors and generates a combined non-event probability and a combined event probability based on that measurement that indicates a likelihood that an explosive event has not occurred or has occurred. The processor determines whether an explosive event has occurred based on the non-event probabilities and event probabilities. When an explosive event has been determined to occur, the processor directs the event notification component to output a notification that an explosive event has occurred.

  • Patent number: 11531105
Abstract: Systems and methods described herein relate to reducing Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) target broadening. One embodiment acquires a frame including a plurality of points; identifies a first set of points for which the energy returned to a detector exceeds a predetermined energy threshold; identifies a second set of points adjacent to the first set of points that has a range differing from that of the first set of points by less than a predetermined range threshold; defines, as a border, an outline of the second set of points; iteratively reduces laser power for the first set of points, acquires a new frame, identifies the second set of points, and defines as the border, the outline of the second set of points until the border converges to a stable size; and outputs an estimated size of an object based, at least in part, on the stable size of the border.

  • Patent number: 11510618
Abstract: A mouth guard senses impact forces and determines if the forces exceed an impact threshold. If so, the mouth guard notifies the user of the risk for injury by haptic feedback, vibratory feedback, and/or audible feedback. The mouth guard system may also remotely communicate the status of risk and the potential injury. The mouth guard uses a local memory device to store impact thresholds based on personal biometric information obtained from the user and compares the sensed forces relative to those threshold values. The mouth guard and its electrical components on the printed circuit board are custom manufactured for the user such that the mouth guard provides a comfortable and reliable fit, while ensuring exceptional performance.

  • Patent number: 11500102
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to imaging an environment and providing velocity characteristics of one or more objects in the imaged environment. As may be implemented in accordance with one or more embodiments, objects in a local environment are scanned with laser light, and reflections of the scanned laser light from the objects are received and processed to generate a 3D image of the local environment. Distance and velocity of each object is provided or detected based on a frequency delay and frequency shift of one or more reflections of the scanned laser light from the object. For instance, the 3D image may provide relative position of an object and indicate velocity of the object, which may be ascertained based on a frequency shift.

  • Patent number: 11501631
Abstract: A fire detector is connected to a loop transmission line connected to a receiver. When the loop transmission line is normal, a transmission unit is connected to the fire detector. When a disconnection failure occurs, a disconnection monitoring unit turns on switching circuits to connect the end of the loop transmission line to the transmission unit, and the receiver connects to the fire detector from both ends of the loop transmission line. An input/output switching booster is inserted and connected in the middle of the loop transmission line, and when the start side transmission line is disconnected and the switching circuits are turned on, the input/output is switched. Accordingly, the input/output switching booster amplifies the down signal input from the terminal side transmission line and outputs it to the start side transmission line and at the same time amplifies the up signal input from the start side transmission line.

Abstract: A system for monitoring efficiency and security of a solar array includes a voltage-based monitoring circuit and a photoelectric sensor. The system detects a voltage across the solar array and compares the voltage to changes in light detected by the photoelectric sensor. In response to reduced light detected at the photoelectric sensor, the system generates a low-efficiency alarm. In response to reduced voltage while light detected by the photoelectric sensor remains constant, the system generates a security alarm signal. The system may also include a PIR sensor, an RFID reader, and a solar panel circuit including the solar panels of the solar array. In response to an infrared alarm at the PIR sensor, an unauthorized alarm at the RFID reader, and an open circuit alarm signal of the solar panel circuit, and the security alarm signal, the system may transmit a master alarm to a monitoring center.

  • Patent number: 11465716
Abstract: An advisory system of a vessel that monitors variables of a vessel system inclusive of systems and subsystems that are used to operate the vessel. The advisory system may use machine-learning to learn from an operator (i) whether or not two variables are related to one another, and (ii) likelihood that a variable will reach a threshold, and, optionally, time until reaching the threshold. The system may receive operator feedback (i) to indicate whether the two variables are related to one another, and (ii) whether a behavior of the variable is normal or not normal. Thereafter, if a determination that the same two variables are related to one another and behaving in a similar manner, provide notification to the operator of the behavior. In response to determining that the variable is behaving (e.g., trending) in a similar manner that is not normal, providing a notification to the operator.
