  • Patent number: 11539927
Abstract: A digital PSF for use in a dual modulation display. The invention allows the use of less than optimal point spread (PSF) functions in the optics between the pre-modulator and primary modulator of a dual modulation projection system. This technique uses multiple halftones per frame in the pre-modulator synchronized with a modified bit sequence in the primary modulator to produce a compensation image that reduces the errors produced by the sub-optimal PSF. The invention includes the application to dual modulation and dual modulated 3D viewing systems.

  • Patent number: 11463733
Abstract: The loss of image quality during compression is controlled using a sequence of quality control metrics. The sequence of quality control metrics is selected for quantizing transform coefficients within an area of the image based on an error level definition. Candidate bit costs are then determined by quantizing the transform coefficients according to the error level definition or a modified error level and the sequence of quality control metrics. Where the candidate bit cost resulting from using the modified error level is lower than the candidate bit cost resulting from using the error level definition, the transform coefficients are quantized according to the modified error level and the sequence of quality control metrics. Otherwise, the transform coefficients are quantized based on the error level definition and according to the sequence of quality control metrics.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for optical distance measurement which includes the steps of emitting measurement pulses by a transmission unit and receiving measurement pulses reflected by an object by a receiver unit to identify objects within a field of view of the receiver unit. A background signal is received by receiver elements and the intensity of the background signal is determined for each receiver element, wherein the determined intensities of the background signal are compared in order to identify objects not identified by the measurement within the field of view of the receiver unit. At least one region of minimal intensity of the background signal is established within an intensity image of the field of view of the receiver unit. The region of minimal intensity is assigned a masking in the field of view, the masking originating from an object not identified by the measurement.
