Abstract: A wireless communication device may wirelessly control an object, such as a physical device, directly or through interaction with a virtual representation (or placeholder) of the object situated at a predefined physical location. In particular, the wireless communication device may identify an intent gesture performed by a user that indicates intent to control the object. For example, the intent gesture may involve pointing or orienting the wireless communication device toward the object, with or without additional input. Then, the wireless communication device may determine the object associated with the intent gesture using wireless ranging and/or device orientation. Moreover, the wireless communication device may interpret sensor data from one or more sensors associated with the wireless communication device to determine an action gesture corresponding to a command or a command value. The wireless communication device may then transmit the command value to control the object.
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for controlling a vehicle and a storage medium are disclosed. The method includes: controlling a vehicle to drive into a first parking space, the first parking space being a target parking space determined to be in an idle state; controlling the vehicle to stop driving into the first parking space in response to determining that the vehicle fails to drive into the first parking space while the vehicle is controlled to drive into the first parking space; determining a second parking space as the target parking space automatically; and controlling the vehicle to drive into the second parking space.
Abstract: A parking assist system includes an acquiring unit, a display unit, and a control unit. In a case where the acquiring unit acquires information about an obstacle on a first target route during traveling of a vehicle along the first target route and thus the vehicle stops traveling along the first target route, the control unit tries to calculate a second target route to a target position from a position where the vehicle stops traveling along the first target route. Upon failing to calculate the second target route, the control unit prohibits a notification about automatic parking while a user is performing a brake operation of the vehicle.
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining data from a plurality of sensors at a first point in time, analyzing the data to identify a first level of alertness of a user, predicting a second level of alertness that is required by the user to operate a machine at a second point in time that is subsequent to the first point in time, comparing the first level of alertness to the second level of alertness to generate a first comparison result, identifying a first type of a first notification based on the first comparison result, identifying a third point in time to provide the first notification based on the first comparison result, wherein the third point in time is subsequent to the first point in time and prior to the second point in time, and providing the first notification at the third point in time. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: A monitoring system that is configured to monitor a property is disclosed. The monitoring system includes a thermal camera that is configured to generate a thermal image of the property. The monitoring system further includes a monitor control unit that is configured to receive, from the thermal camera, the thermal image. The monitor control unit is further configured to, based on the thermal image, determine a temperature of a portion of the property depicted in the thermal image. The monitor control unit is further configured to determine that the temperature of the portion of the property depicted in the thermal image satisfies a temperature threshold. The monitor control unit is further configured to, based on determining that the temperature of the portion of the property depicted in the thermal image satisfies the temperature threshold, select and perform a monitoring system action.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to apparatus and methods for locking and/or unlocking a vehicle based on a location of a mobile device associated with the vehicle. In one embodiment a processor in a vehicle analyzes a position of a mobile device relative to the vehicle and allows the vehicle to be unlocked when the mobile device is determined to be approaching the vehicle.
Abstract: A computer includes a processor and a memory storing instructions executable by the processor to receive an instruction to revoke an authorization for an operator to operate a vehicle; after receiving the instruction, permit the operator to operate the vehicle until the vehicle is turned off and a condition is met; and upon the vehicle being off and the condition being met, prevent the operator from operating the vehicle. The condition depends on a status of the vehicle.

Abstract: An operator's proximity to an automotive vehicle being inspected is tracked and recorded. An audio and/or a visual representation of the automotive vehicle being inspected, inspection zones, and components within the inspection zones are rendered. A representation of the automotive vehicle being inspected is updated to reflect a condition of the vehicle being inspected, a condition of the inspection zones, and the numbers of defects for each of inspection zones. The audio and visual representations shown as part of any defects of the vehicle being inspected may be recorded. During a vehicle inspection, a visual indication of a driver's location in proximity to a visual representation of the automotive vehicle being inspected may be displayed.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for activating remote monitoring functionality of a personal wireless device associated with a released individual. After incarceration, former inmates are released under a variety of different circumstances, many of which require follow-up check-ins with case managers or other individuals. As part of their release, inmates often agree to multiple restrictions and requirements. In order to better monitor compliance with those requirements, a personal wireless device assigned to the released individual can be programmed with certain rules and automatically trigger when a violation is detected. As a result of a detected violation, the personal wireless device activates certain devices, such as a camera, microphone, etc., to capture data in order to remotely monitor the released individual. A case manager can also manually activate monitoring.
