Example apparatus to identify media include at least one memory, instructions, and at least one processor to execute the instructions to: determine a first ratio based on a first time interval and a second time interval of a monitored media signal; determine a second ratio based on the second time interval and a third time interval of the monitored media signal; generate a first ratio signature based on the first and second ratios; and initiate transmission of the first ratio signature to a recipient that is to compare the first signature with a second ratio signature to identify the media.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method, apparatus, and system for realizing dynamic scheduling for a cinema and controlling playing of a movie. In particular, embodiments of the present invention relate to dynamic scheduling of content presentation in a cinema by collecting user preferences of a plurality of users, wherein the user preference specifies at least a movie that a user desires to watch, a time for watching the movie, a cinema for watching the movie, and a number of people watching the movie; generating, based on the collected user preferences, a respective dynamic schedule for at least one cinema of a plurality of cinemas according to one of a plurality of scheduling schemes; and transmitting the generated respective dynamic schedule to at least one second electronic apparatus corresponding to the at least one cinema.

Abstract: Example methods and apparatus to replicate panelists using a local minimum solution of an integer least squares problem are disclosed. An example apparatus includes memory; and processor circuitry to execute computer readable instructions to: determine weight adjustments based on a ratio of (A) a first dot product of (i) attribute data and (ii) a difference between first aggregate panelist data and second seed panelist data, and (B) a second dot product of the attribute data and the attribute data, the first aggregate panelist data based on the attribute data, the attribute data corresponding to a seed panel; determine weight estimates based on the weight adjustments, the weight estimates to replicate respective seed panelists in the seed panel; and replicate respective ones of the seed panelists based on the weight estimates to generate a synthetic audience representative of return path data reported by a plurality of media devices.

Abstract: An electronic device generates a respective user queue for each user of a plurality of users participating in a shared listening session. While providing a first media content item for playback, the device receives a second request, from a first user, to add a second media content item to the shared playback queue and updates the respective user queue for the first user. After receiving the second request, the electronic device receives a third request, from a second user, to add a third media content item to the shared playback queue and updates the respective user queue for the second user. The electronic device updates the shared playback queue using the respective user queues of the first user and the second user, including positioning the third media content item in an order of the shared playback queue to be played back before the second media content item.

Abstract: When a media client is receiving a media stream, the media client determines an upcoming time point at which the media client is to perform a content revision involving insertion (e.g., substitution or overlaying) of new content. The media client further determines an advanced time point when the media client should initiate a process of acquiring the new content, setting the advanced time point sufficiently in advance of the upcoming content-revision time point to enable the media client to obtain at least enough of the new content to be able to start the content revision on time. In an example implementation, the media client could determine the advanced time point by predicting how long the content-acquisition process will take, based on consideration of past instances of content acquisition, possibly correlated with operational factors such as content source, processor load, memory load, network speed, and time of day.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for assigning metadata candidates to a commercial by performing image analysis on a plurality of the video frames to identify video frames that include one or more of identifiable product-related logos, brand-related logos, product-related text, or brand-related text which appear in the video frames, capturing frame data for such video frames, categorizing a temporal position of the identified video frames within the commercial as being in either a beginning or ending portion of the commercial, or a middle portion of the commercial, and assigning to the commercial the identified products or brands as primary metadata candidates when the temporal position of the identified video frames within the commercial is in either the beginning or ending portion of the commercial.

Abstract: The timing for displaying an overlay a video is optimized using a system that includes an engagement component that receives information regarding frames of a video at which respective users of a plurality of users stop engaging with the video and an analysis component that calculates user engagement scores for the frames based on the information, wherein the user engagement scores reflect a percentage of the plurality of users that stop engaging with the video at the respective frames, and wherein the higher the percentage the lower the user engagement score. The system further includes an identification component that identifies a subset of the frames associated with relatively lower user engagement scores in comparison to other frames of the video and an overlay component that configures an overlay for displaying over the video near at least one of the frames included in the subset.

The input is configured to receive signals in a cable television (CATV) bandwidth and signals in a multimedia over coax alliance (MoCA) bandwidth. The in-home network adapter is configured to allow the signals in the MoCA bandwidth to pass from the input to the plurality of outputs and from the plurality of outputs to the input. The in-home network adapter is configured to attenuate or prevent the signals in the CATV bandwidth from passing from the input to the plurality of outputs, from the plurality of outputs to the input, or both.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of transmitting a video stream, including: intercepting a video stream from a server to a video client; wherein the video client is on a user device; throttling onwards transmission of the video stream to the video client; analysing content within the video of the video stream; and performing an action in relation to the onward transmission to the video client as a result of the analysis of the content; wherein the throttling continues during analysis of the content. A system and software for transmitting a video stream are also described.

Abstract: Systems and technologies for providing an on-demand personalized news program are disclosed. The system and technologies allow an end user to create a news program that best matches the end user's tastes and preferences. To achieve this, one aspect of the disclosure relates to systematic personalization. Systematic personalization involves determining an end user's interests based on an assessment of user behavior as it relates to accessible content. The personalization process may also provide content to users that have been editorially curated.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating notification interfaces synchronized with broadcast events and local interactions are disclosed. The system can receive a plurality of interactions corresponding to a conditional event opportunity of a live event from a respective plurality of client devices, and identify a broadcast receiver device that is presenting a broadcast of the live event. The system can generate instructions for a broadcast receiver device that causes an application executing on the broadcast receiver device to display one or more content items corresponding to the conditional event opportunity. The system can transmit the instructions to the broadcast receiver device to cause the application to display the one or more content items with the broadcast of the live event.

Abstract: Secure access to a corporate application using a facade. In some embodiments, a method may include receiving, at a secure access cloud point of delivery (PoD), from a client application on a client device, a request to access a corporate application that is deployed in a corporate datacenter. The method may also include creating, at the secure access cloud PoD, a facade representing the corporate application. The method may further include forwarding, from the facade, to a connector that is also deployed in the corporate datacenter, the request. The method may also include brokering, by the connector and the facade, authentication of a user, authorization of access by the user, and a secure communication session between the client application and the corporate application via the facade, with the client application being unaware that the secure communication session is brokered by the connector and the facade.

An example apparatus includes an interface to access marginal ratings of the media for a recorded audience, marginal ratings of the media for a population audience, and reach of the media for the recorded audience; a reach determiner to iteratively estimate a reach of the media for the population audience based on the marginal ratings for the recorded audience, the marginal ratings for the population audience, and the reach for the recorded audience; and the interface to output the estimated reach for the population audience.

Abstract: System and method for adaptively streaming a video. The method includes obtaining a first segment of a video file with a first bitrate and video quality level, and, after obtaining the first segment of the video file, determining, using a controller with a trained reinforcement-learning-based adaptive streaming model, a second bitrate and video quality level of a second segment of the video file to be obtained. The method also includes obtaining the second segment of the video file with the second determined bitrate and video quality level. The method may be repeated for different segments of the video file so as to adaptively stream the video represented by the video file.
