A method might include routing an F1 line(s) from a central office or DSLAM to a fiber distribution hub (“FDH”) located within a block or neighborhood of customer premises, via at least an apical conduit source slot. From the FDH, an F2 line(s) might be routed, via any combination of various apical conduit components, to a network access point (“NAP”) servicing one or more customer premises. An F3 line(s) might be distributed, at the NAP and from the F2 line(s), to a network interface device (“NID”) or optical network terminal (“ONT”) at each customer premises, via any combination of the apical conduit components, which include channels in at least portions of roadways. The device may send audio data via a data network to a server and the server can determine a voice command included in the audio data. Based on the voice command, the server may send an instruction to an adapter via the data network, the instruction causing the adapter to initiate a telephone call over the PSTN. During the telephone call, the adapter and the server may forward audio data between the device and the PSTN, enabling the device to communicate over the PSTN. The system may enable the device to receive an incoming call from the PSTN and may provide additional functionality, such as determining call statistics during the telephone call, determining if another telephone receives audio data during the telephone call and detecting an alarm signal sent via the PSTN.

The circuitry (400, 600) further comprises a control circuit (430, 630) configured to switch on the first switch (410, 610) at a first timing, and to switch off the first switch (410, 610) and turn on the power amplifier (10) at a second timing. The first timing is a time interval ahead of the second timing.

The defer list is based on a first defer list received from and created by the receiving node. The transmitting node senses a wireless channel in the wireless communications network. When the transmitting node intends to transmit data to the receiving node, the transmitting node defers channel access to the sensed wireless channel for the data transmission when one or more conditions are fulfilled. The one or more conditions comprise at least that one or more nodes are sensed as communicating and are on the defer list.

    Abstract: Adjustment of a transmit power parameter, such as a ceiling level, is disclosed. Signal-to-noise type information and committed power information can be employed to determine the ceiling level adjustment. A ceiling level can be a predetermined cap on transmission power for downlink or uplink channels between a user equipment and a base station. Where there is sufficient headroom in total transmission power and a power level greater than the predetermined ceiling can be effective, the ceiling can be adjusted to greater values than the predetermined value. Where total transmission power is more committed, ceiling adjustment can be prevented. Further, where there is no adequate benefit from increasing the ceiling, the adjustment of the ceiling can be prevented. While some instances can result in optimized transmission levels below the ceiling, instances can also be accommodated where the ceiling is to be increased.
