Abstract: A paint container assembly including a container body (8) having an outer surface (10), an inner surface (12) defining an interior (14) containing the paint (16), an opening (20) through which the paint is removed, and a flexible bag (6). The flexible bag (6) has a bottom region (28) used to cover a free surface (18) of the paint (16) and a sidewall region (28) sized to cover the inner surface (12) of the container, a lid mating surface (22), and a portion of the outer surface (10) of the container body (8).

Abstract: A safety stopper for a receptacle includes a top portion and a sealing ring having an inner bead embraced around a rib at the receptacle opening. The stopper is press fitted into the receptacle. A weakened seam is provided between the top portion and the sealing ring. A slide may be provided in the top of the stopper and is moved outward to enable the stopper to be removed after the seam is broken. The stopper may also include a segment which blocks movement of the slide until the sealing ring is removed.

Abstract: A container made of a substantially dielectric material adapted to contain and preserve a perishable substance, comprising:a substantially elongated tubular portion defining an enclosure adapted to contain a perishable substance, the tubular portion being made from a flexible dielectric material, and defining an opening adapted to release said perishable substance through the opening by squeezing the tubular portion;a first magnet coupled to an interior wall of the tubular portion and extending substantially the length of the tubular position;a second magnet coupled to said interior wall of the tubular portion of a substantially opposite side of the tubular portion relative to the first magnet and facing the first magnetic defining a magnetic field between the first and second magnets; said magnetic field adapted to substantially encompass said perishable substance; anda porous material located between the first and second magnets to prevent contact between the first and second magnets.

Abstract: A barrel cover retainer in the form of a flexible band: end of the band is looped around one handle of the barrel; the band extends across the cover; and the opposite end of the band is looped around the other handle, folded back on itself, pulled taught, and held in place by hook and loop fastener means.

Abstract: A plastic tamper indicating closure including a base wall, a peripheral skirt having an inner surface with interengaging threads engaging cooperating threads on a container such that said closure is removed by relative rotation. A first interrupted score line extends circumferentially about the skirt defining a weakened line by interrupted scores forming bridges and defining a wider connecting portion. The score line defines a tamper indicating band which has portions for engaging an annular bead on a container to inhibit removal of the closure such that the bridges must be broken to remove the closure. The tamper indicating band has a first axial score line adjacent the connecting portion that has its upper end intersecting the interrupted score line.

Abstract: A large easy opening plastic lid, such as for a five gallon paint can, having a peripheral flange with an annular locking ring that engages an annular bead on a container sidewall to retain the lid in sealed engagement with the container. The flange is formed with a plurality of peripherally spaced frangible lines of weakness, which, when broken, segment the peripheral flange into separate flange segments, each having a segment of the locking ring. Following rupture of the flange along the frangible lines of weakness, each of the flange segments is independently pivotable between two positions, a first lowered position in which the respective segments of the locking ring engage with the container bead to securely retain the lid on the container, and a second raised or winged position in which all of the respective segments of the locking ring are disengaged from the container bead to facilitate easy removal and replacement of the lid.

Abstract: A closure cover for sealing a liquid container including a body having an orifice for dispensing the liquid in the container, and a rotating disk pivotally attached to the body and providing an effective seal for the dispensing orifice. The effective seal is created by a downward force upon a sealing gasket, such force being the result of the rotation of the disk member containing a ramp which is moved under a cam on the body.

Abstract: The open end of a cylindrical housing which may be an evacuable housing, for example a tube for storing blood samples, is closed by means of a cap having an annular wall surrounding the open end of the housing and a seal extending into the cap and the housing. For secure sealing of the housing, the cap is connected by means of a coupling device either to the seal or to the housing or both of these.

Abstract: A backoff resistant closure for use with a container having a neck portion with container threads integrally formed thereon, the container threads having an uppermost portion. At least one protuberance is integrally formed on the inner surface of the annular skirt of the closure which projects inwardly. The protuberance is spaced from the uppermost segment of the closure threading and positioned between the uppermost segment of the closure threading and the inner face of the top portion of the closure. The protuberance is configured to abut and provide a frictional retaining force against the uppermost portion of the container threads. The protuberance will also retain a closure liner within the closure.

Abstract: A portable garbage can comprising a cylindrical can body, an annular cap receiver combined with the can body, two half caps swingably combined with the cap receiver, and an inverted L-shaped handle combined with the cap receiver and having a bottom square engage portion to insert in an inner recess of a square plate fixed on one side of the cap receiver, two opposite saw teeth provided in the inner opening of the square engage portion to engage and rotate a stationary tooth respectively fixed on one side of the two half caps to swing open or close an upper opening of the cap receiver combined with the can body for throwing garbage therein.

Abstract: A tamper evident seal and system for use on a variety of container and closure combinations providing a seal across the juncture of the container and closure and positive indication to consumers of tampering with the seal. The seal comprises a heat shrink band to which is applied at least one strip of a heat activated adhesive extending perpendicularly to the band's circumference and along the full length of the band. Perforations are provided along either edge to permit separation of the majority of the band from that portion to which the adhesive is applied. Indicia are provided on the band and on the container to indicate the presence or absence of the band. Application of the band to the container by heating causes the band to shrink into tight conformance with the container and closure obscuring the indicia thereon and bringing the adhesive into engagement with the container and closure.

Abstract: A closure is used with a container having an annular end portion defining a radially outwardly opening annular recess. The closure comprises a generally circular closure wall, a generally cylindrical continuous sidewall having an upper edge connected to the closure wall and a continuous annular lower edge. The sidewall has an inner diameter slightly greater than the outer diameter of the container annular end portion, and a radially inwardly extending ridge on an inside of the sidewall between the upper and lower ridges. The ridge has an inner diameter less than the container annular end portion outer diameter yet greater than an outer diameter of the annular recess so that when the closure is installed on the container at least one of the container end portion and the sidewall is temporarily deformed to permit reception of the ridge in the recess to lock the closure on the container.

Abstract: A cap has a circumferential band with flap pieces formed at the lower end of a cylindrical skirt portion via a weakened portion, and a feature resides in a circumferential curled portion that is formed at the lower end of the circumferential band. When the cap is opened, the flap pieces effectively prevents the circumferential band from entirely escaping.

Abstract: A rim structure for a metal container wherein the rim is an integral part of the container cylindrical sidewall. The rim has an outwardly projecting wall which is radially inwardly folded by a top fold over onto itself and is then vertically folded upwardly and thereafter radially outwardly folded to define a generally triangle-shaped cross section. The top of the triangle is extended above the top fold. This configuration defines an internal step at the mouth of the container, its top portion is flexible due to the free outwardly deflection of the vertically internal length determining the step. This resiliency allows an annular projection on the container lid to be snap-fitted through the step.

Abstract: An ovoid container which has two concave halves each with an open end and a closed end. As the open ends of the two halves are connected, the closed container takes on an egg or ovoid shape. The open ends are connected by combining an annular rib of one open end with an annular groove of the other open end. The two closed ends of the concave halves are joined by a press fit of protruding stubs from one closed end into corresponding depressions of the other closed end to form an egg cup that can also be used in a container for collecting eggs.

Abstract: A pourer device of synthetic plastic material for attachment to a hole in a package for flowable contents includes a bottom part and a closure part that are connected to one another by a hinge. At least one of the bottom part and the closure part is movable between an open position and a closed position. A pourer orifice is formed in the bottom part and a synthetic plastic film is provided between the closure part and the bottom part, over the orifice. A method for producing such a pourer device is also described.

Abstract: A closure-assembly includes a molded plastic closure cap, and a disc-shaped insert liner positionable adjacent a top wall portion of the closure cap. An annular shoulder of the closure cap cooperates with the insert liner to form a top/side seal with an associated container. The annular shoulder includes at least one annular liner-engaging rib, which cooperates with the insert liner to enhance sealing performance of the closure assembly, retain the liner in position with the closure cap, and facilitate high-speed closure formation.

Abstract: A plastic slidable removable cover for a beverage container, such as a soda can, that can cover or expose the can opening using the same hand that grasps the container. The cover comprises a tab portion that fits under the rivet of a conventional soda can pull ring and covers the opening created, a periphery engaging portion that grips the lip of the can, and a plurality of serrations facilitating easy sliding of the cover around the lip periphery. The cover can be easily removed for use with other containers.

Abstract: A toggle-action container dispensing closure is provided for manipulation between a closed, non-dispensing orientation and an open, dispensing orientation. An actuator is mounted on a body and is tiltable between a closed position and an open position. A locking member is slidably disposed on the actuator for movement between an extended, locked position and a retracted, unlocked position. In the locked position the locking member overlies an abutment surface on the body to prevent pivoting of the actuator to the open position. When the locking member is retracted, the locking member clears the body abutment surface to permit pivoting of the actuator to the open position.

Abstract: Improved safety devices comprising a container; a closure means for the container having a plurality of annular bands rotatably mounted on the closure means, each of these bands being formed with a plurality of elements which are selectably removable for programming the closure means and which must be aligned in the selected manner in order to gain access to the contents of the container; and indicia carried by the container for indicating when the selected elements are aligned in the selected manner.
