    Abstract: Systems and methods for communicating in an Ethernet cloud radio access network are disclosed. In some implementations, a baseband unit determines a time when a plurality of remote radio heads, accessible to a user equipment, are scheduled to transmit a signal to the user equipment. The baseband unit transmits, via an Ethernet connection and in advance of the determined time, the signal and information about the determined time to each of the plurality of remote radio heads, to enable the plurality of remote radio heads to simultaneously transmit, at the determined time and via a radio connection, a Fourier transform of the signal to the user equipment.

Embodiments avoid reporting downstream child NEs that may be performing poorly due to the upstream failed parent NE. Embodiments associate the one or more customer premise devices, and a customer account with respective NEs of the connectivity trail, perform operational metric tests to determine whether a customer premise device associated with a customer account has failed, determine when an NE of the connectivity trail has failed. Embodiments also include rebooting the failed NE and/or notifying a ticketing system accordingly.

Responsive to determining that the applicable mitigation level has decreased from a most recent previously determined mitigation level, the MAC layer is configured to effect an increase in the transmit duty cycle of the WLAN transceiver.

    Abstract: A method communicating data between a base station and a terminal device in a wireless telecommunications system, for example an LTE-based system. The wireless communication system uses plural frequency sub-carriers spanning a system frequency band. Physical-layer control information for the terminal device is transmitted from the base station using sub-carriers selected from across the system frequency band, for example to provide frequency diversity. However, higher-layer data for the terminal device is transmitted using only sub-carriers selected from within a restricted frequency band which is smaller than and within the system frequency band. The terminal device is aware of the restricted frequency band, and as such need only buffer and process data within this restricted frequency band during periods where higher-layer data is being transmitted. The terminal device buffers and processes the full system frequency band during periods when physical-layer control information is being transmitted.
