  • Patent number: 4246728
Abstract: A tool for cleaning, deburring, burnishing, or otherwise treating an end of a tubular conduit comprises a rotatable body coupled to a carrier provided with an abrading substance. In one form the carrier may be accommodated within the conduit, whereas in another form the carrier is adapted to accommodate the conduit. In each case the carrier is axially slotted to enable it to expand and contract radially to cause the abrading material to engage the conduit. The body and the carrier are telescoped for relative movement and are provided with complementally tapered surfaces which react in response to relative telescopic movements to effect radial expansion and contraction of the carrier.

  • Patent number: 4241504
Abstract: A pocket sized record album opener that is adapted to be held in the hand and contains a recessed cutting edge that slidably engages the cellophane bridge over the open mouth of an album jacket thereby opening the same, all the while, the cutting edge being free of the actual record and the user's hand. In one embodiment, a pair of serrated disk-like cutting wheels are mounted on spaced apart parallel axles such that their lateral surfaces are at different distances from a flat fence-like guide surface. The fence-like guide surface may be moved relative to the position of the pair of serrated disc-like cutting wheels, thereby permitting the apparatus to be utilized in cutting covers, whereby the cuts in the covers to be made vary in distance from the surface on which the fence moves. A cover is pivotably secured to the housing carrying the axle, acting as a cover for the fence-like guiding surface and the exposed portion of the serrated cutting wheels.

  • Patent number: 4240479
Abstract: An unbreakable sledge hammer handle includes a conventional, wood or other rigid lower handle portion and a wire rope connector for mounting the hammer head on the top end of the hammer. A pair of collars are fit on the opposite ends of the wire rope connector and secured thereto by applying extreme pressure to the collar which deforms and cold works the interior diameter to fill in the gaps between the wire segments. The sledge hammer head is provided with a cylindrical mounting aperture which is smaller in diameter than the outside diameter of the collar. The hammer head is subsequently heat shrunk onto the collar. The opposite end of the wire rope connector is secured to the wooden handle portion by a sleeve which extends a substantial length over the exterior of the handle portion. The sleeve is riveted to the wooden handle portion and spot welded to the collar.

  • Patent number: 4240478
Abstract: A hammer has a head having a recessed face. The recess in one modification is formed by having four isosceles triangular slanted sections extending inward from the outer edge of the face. In another modification the face has a curved recess. The hammer head has flat exterior side surfaces and the head is positional close to the center line of the handle. The hammer claw has a rectangular notch between the two claw fingers, making the claw especially adaptable for disengaging tie-wire loops or bolt ends with slots in their outer ends. The hammer is useful for driving objects such as nails, pins, and wedges, and is especially useful in work involving concrete forms.

  • Patent number: 4240230
Abstract: An improved throw-away, or single use, adaptor particularly useful with depressed center grinding wheels is described. The adaptor comprises a hollow mandrel having an internal threaded portion for attaching the adaptor to the shaft of a grinding machine. The hollow mandrel has a saucer-shaped disc portion extending axially from the outer portion of the mandrel. The saucer-shaped disc portion has a concave surface and a convex surface. The concave portion is equipped with a plurality of internal rib members and has a flange around the periphery thereof to contact the side of a grinding wheel. The flange portion has a plurality of protrusions, or bosses, thereon adapted to be received in corresponding orifices in the grinding wheel. In operation, as the grinding wheel contacts a work piece, the torque, or stress, is directly imparted to the adaptor, as the adaptor is threadably attached to the shaft of the grinding wheel.
