  • Patent number: 10001765
Abstract: A building automation space facility or building automation facility comprising systems and methods for classifying and standardizing sensors and sensor data using time-series data and/or meta data, such as data and meta information available in a control network or hardware is disclosed. The disclosed system and methods provide techniques to rapidly identify and classify sensors using analysis of time-series data (e.g., data collected from a sensor such as by polling the sensor every second, minute, hour, day, month, and so on) and/or meta data (e.g., label names, group names, associated equipment, and so on) from these sensors and associated control systems. In this manner, the disclosed techniques greatly improve the extent to which a building automation facility or system monitors, manages, and reports on various elements within a building or group of buildings.

  • Patent number: 9991716
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling an energy storage system to provide for delivery of multiple grid services are provided. Grid service requests can be categorized into a plurality of priority tiers. Power demands associated with the grid service requests can be allocated to enforce the prioritization scheme of the priority tiers. For instance, power demands associated with grid service requests in higher priority tiers can be given preference over power demands associated with grid service requests in lower priority tiers. Multiple grid service requests can be categorized within the same priority tier. In addition, the energy storage system can be controlled not only give priority to grid services requests categorized in the higher priority tiers, but also to manage the state of charge of the system to ensure that there is sufficient reserve capacity to meet power demands of the grid service requests categorized in the higher priority tiers.

  • Patent number: 9989975
Abstract: Methods and systems for accurately measuring and monitoring accumulated volume of hydraulic fluid in a blowout preventer (BOP) system, specifically for a function of interest, are disclosed. One method includes initializing a state machine algorithm, the state machine algorithm responsive to a BOP function of interest being activated; measuring an initial hydraulic flow rate baseline and an initial pressure baseline to create a hydraulic impedance variable for use in the state machine algorithm; monitoring an aggregate hydraulic flow rate and pressure of the BOP system over time; applying the hydraulic impedance variable to negate BOP system hydraulic flows not related to the BOP function of interest; and applying the state machine algorithm to determine when the BOP function of interest has been completed responsive to a total accumulated volume of hydraulic fluid.

  • Patent number: 9971342
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a pattern data creating method includes a calculation process, a determination process, and a correction process. In the calculation process, it is calculated a stress distribution of stresses that are applied to a template when a distance between the template and a substrate on which resist are disposed is predetermined, the template including a template pattern. In the determination process, it is determined whether or not there is a stress concentration spot in the template pattern at which a stress value larger than a predetermined criterion value is to appear. If the stress concentration spot is present, in the correction process, it is a corrected pattern data of the template pattern such that the stress value at the stress concentration spot becomes a stress value not larger than the predetermined criterion value.

  • Patent number: 9946241
Abstract: A method for controlling an operation of a machine according to a model of the machine having uncertainties determines a set of triples of data points representing the operation of the machine over a period of time. Each triple of data points in the set includes two subsequent states of the machine and corresponding control input causing a transition of the machine between the subsequent states. Next, the method determines a current model of the machine based on the set of triples of data points, such that the current model is within a feasible space of models of the machine corresponding to a polytope with vertices defined by base models representing extreme values of different parameters of the model.

  • Patent number: 9939883
Abstract: One embodiment provides a method for reducing leakage current in device logic having an operational supply-voltage threshold, a nonzero data-retention supply-voltage threshold, and two or more on-die transistor switches to switchably connect a voltage source to the device logic. After the logic enters an idle period, one or more of the switches are opened to lower a supply voltage of the logic below the operational supply-voltage threshold but above the data-retention supply-voltage threshold. When the logic exits the idle period, one or more of the switches are closed to raise the supply voltage of the logic above the operational supply-voltage threshold.

  • Patent number: 9939869
Abstract: The various aspects provide methods, systems, and devices for coordinating the operating states of multiple SOCs within a computing device. Such coordination may be implemented through communication of information by the SOCs that represent advance notice of impending interactions between each other. The communicated information may be used by a recipient SOC for setting its operating state in advance of the potential impending interaction with another SOC. Accordingly, this technical improvement enables individual SOCs to preemptively influence the operating states of the other SOCs. For example, in the context of power management, the various aspects may coordinate the power states of multiple SOCs, thereby effectively implementing a monolithic power management state machine that improves overall power consumption of the computing device.

  • Patent number: 9927803
Abstract: A process for creating custom fixtures for parts that are to be CNC lathe machined is fully automatic and requires no human interaction. The customer's CAD file is computer analyzed to determine whether the part's dimensions fit within an available CNC lathe turning center for forming out of a cylindrical stock bar. The longitudinal axis is identified, and a set of tool paths is developed for cutting the part from two respective directions. A corresponding tool path is developed for CNC lathe cutting a bushing, preferably from the same bar stock, which generally represents the negative space around circular cross-sections of the part, in monotonically increasing diameters from the first end of the part. The bushing is then used to hold the part in the chuck during machining the second end of the part from the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 9919902
Abstract: A heave compensator for heavy lifts with adjustable dampening characteristics is able to operate above and below the water line in environmental pressures ranging from the atmospheric up to several hundred atmospheres pressure. A method for automatic regulation of the available stroke length of the heave compensator during the lifting operation, based on the realization that heave compensating devices utilising a slideable piston as a volume expanding mechanism to reduce the tension forces upon relative movements between crane and load, may obtain a simple compact construction able to execute a range of different compensation functionalities by registering the pressure and temperature in the gas filled chambers of the device, and employing this information to regulate the amount of gas in the single gas filled chambers.

  • Patent number: 9921567
Abstract: Improvements in a high speed smooth tool path is presented where the high speed smooth tool path to be used for primarily finishing for finishing any type of walls (negative/positive drafted) for any given bounded region be it 3, 4, 5, . . . n sided shape. The tool path incorporates a combined strategy for finishing the walls while removing any excess material leftover from a previous larger diameter cutter. This tool-motion can be utilized for roughing the regions by approximating the walls by offsetting the regions inwards. The finished boundaries are offset inwards and then cut using these methods. This is optimized as opposed to moving the cutter at a consistent speed in the cutting path. This is performed to eliminate the wasted tool-motion to the maximum extent. This technique is implemented for roughing any closed or open bounded areas regardless of the walls being straight, drafted (negative/positive or both).

Abstract: In an embodiment, an electronic device may include a processor that may iteratively simulate candidate control trajectories using upper confidence bound for trees (UCT) to control an environmental control system (e.g., an HVAC system). Each candidate control trajectory may be simulated by selecting a control action at each of a plurality of time steps over a period of time that has the highest upper bound on possible performance using values from previous simulations and predicting a temperature for a next time step of the plurality of time steps that results from applying the selected control action using a thermal model. The processor may determine a value of each candidate control trajectory using a cost function, update the value of each control action selected in each candidate control trajectory, and select a candidate control trajectory with the highest value using UCT to apply to control the environmental control system.
