  • Patent number: 10091014
Abstract: An integrated security system that includes a security alarm reporting system (SARS) that is resilient to equipment failure and, as such, provides a comprehensive solution to the problem of an intruder attempting to disable an alarm reporting system. The integrated security system includes a gateway/touchscreen coupled to a security system. The gateway/touchscreen and the security system are at a first location and manage a variety of security and network devices at the first location. A security server at a second location is coupled to the security system and receives a first signal from the security system. A heartbeat signal is initiated that monitors health of the security system. The heartbeat signal may be initiated in response to the first signal. The security server detects a failure of the heartbeat signal and generates a report and sends the report to a central monitoring station. The report is an electronic report that indicates failure of the security system.

  • Patent number: 10081968
Abstract: The restroom stall occupancy indicator system includes a latch coupled to a stall door and movable between a locked position and an unlocked position. A sensor is responsive to selected positioning of the latch and communications the position information to a transmitter. The transmitter then relays the position information to a receiver coupled to an indicator. The indicator, in turn, is responsive to the received position information to provide a first visual identification when the latch is in the unlocked position and a second visual identification when the latch is in the locked position.

  • Patent number: 10046601
Abstract: Techniques are provided for alerting drivers of hazardous driving conditions using the sensing capabilities of wearable mobile technology. In one aspect, a method for alerting drivers of hazardous driving conditions includes the steps of: collecting real-time data from a driver of a vehicle, wherein the data is collected via a mobile device worn by the driver; determining whether the real-time data indicates that a hazardous driving condition exists; providing feedback to the driver if the real-time data indicates that a hazardous driving condition exists, and continuing to collect data from the driver in real-time if the real-time data indicates that a hazardous driving condition does not exist. The real-time data may also be collected and used to learn characteristics of the driver. These characteristics can be compared with the data being collected to help determine, in real-time, whether the driving behavior is normal and whether a hazardous driving condition exists.

  • Patent number: 10049550
Abstract: A wearable accoutrement such as a wristwatch records noises within a wearer's vicinity, and white noises may be filtered out to output pure human voices. The voice recording feature can be activated manually or automatically during a “panic mode” as indicated by a loud noise or sudden biological changes such as an increase in heart rate or body temperature. The accoutrement can also monitor other environmental elements such as light, motion and audio and may be paired with a wireless phone such that noise from a stressful event can be sent to a remote server which processes the data. A motion sensor in the accoutrement may also activate an audible alarm in the event of physical trauma to the wearer to induce an attacker to flee.

  • Patent number: 10032347
Abstract: A sensor records information about skin stretch perceived by a user based on an interaction with a real object. The sensor includes a mechanical housing configured to be worn on a finger of a user, and a mechanism coupled to the mechanical housing. The mechanism includes a first bearing that rotates in a first direction in response to an interaction with a surface. The mechanism also includes a second bearing coupled to the first bearing, such that rotation of the first bearing causes the second bearing to rotate in a direction opposite to the first direction. The second bearing is in contact with a portion of the finger, and includes a feedback surface that simulates a force associated with the interaction with the surface. The sensor includes a controller configured to monitor rotation of the second bearing and record skin stretch information responsive to the interaction with the surface.

  • Patent number: 10016558
Abstract: A medical device (2, 3, 20), in particular a medical infusion device (2, 3, 20), comprises a control unit (200) for controlling operation of the medical device (2, 3, 20), a visual alarm generator (201) for generating a visual alarm signal (V), and an audio alarm generator (202) for generating an audio alarm signal (S). Herein, the control unit (200) is constituted to control the visual alarm generator (201) and the audio alarm generator (202), in case of an alarm condition, for producing a visual alarm signal (V1, V2) and an audio alarm signal (S1, S2) which are offset with respect to each other by a predetermined time difference (T1). In this way a medical device is provided which allows to enhance the perception of a user to help the user to quickly identify a medical device on which an alarm condition has occurred.

  • Patent number: 10013880
Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are provided for estimating parking occupancy. For a paid parking period, parking meter transaction data may be acquired for a parking meter encompassed by a zone of one or more parking spaces. The parking meter transaction data may be evaluated to determine status data, such as an estimation of whether one or more parking spaces are available, occupied, and/or will become available. A parking occupancy, indicative of a likelihood of available parking spaces, may be estimated based upon the status data. For a free parking period, the parking occupancy may be estimated based upon vehicle flow data that is indicative of vehicles entering, parking, and/or leaving the one or more parking spaces. In this way, the parking occupancy may be provided to a driver to mitigate wasted time and/or gas otherwise spent searching for an available parking space.

  • Patent number: 9997055
Abstract: A social alarm system provides location detection within a dwelling. A personal radio trigger unit is carried by a client and transmits an alarm signal in response to a triggering event, such as by a manual alarm button or an automatic fall detection circuit. A client unit is operable to receive the alarm signal and initiate an alarm call to a remote monitoring center over a communications network. A plurality of radio receptor nodes monitor the wireless RF transmissions from the personal radio trigger to report respective received signal strength values.
