Abstract: A network comprises a plurality of switches coupled in a ring topology, wherein each adjacent pair of switches in the plurality of switches forms a multiple link aggregation group interswitch connection therebetween and forms a ring resiliency protocol logical node. A first switch in a first adjacent pair of the plurality of switches is coupled via a first link to a second switch in a second adjacent pair of the plurality of switches, and a third switch in the first adjacent pair is coupled via a second link to a fourth switch in the second adjacent pair. In the event of a failure of the first link, a packet flow to be transmitted from the first switch over the first link is redirected from the first switch to the third switch for transmission over the second link to the fourth switch.

  • Patent number: 9693307
Abstract: Performing early termination of reception by a mobile station. The mobile station may receive a wireless transmission. The wireless transmission may include a physical layer (PHY) header, a media access control (MAC) header, and data. The mobile station may determine a duration and a destination address from the MAC header. The mobile station may determine if the wireless transmission is intended for the mobile station using the destination address. In response to determining that the wireless transmission is not intended for the mobile station, the mobile station may enter a low power mode prior to completion of the wireless transmission. The length of time of the low power mode may be based on the duration of the first wireless transmission.

  • Patent number: 9686697
Abstract: A device is configured to obtain base station information for base stations indicating whether data communicated via a respective base station should receive optimization processing. The device may obtain a base station identifier from a base station. The device may determine whether the data communicated via the base station should receive the optimization processing based on the base station information and the base station identifier. The device may receive non-optimized data to be sent to a client device via the base station. The device may selectively cause the optimization processing to be performed on the non-optimized data based on whether the data communicated via the base station should receive the optimization processing. The device may provide optimized data generated by the optimization processing or the non-optimized data to the client device via the base station based on selectively causing the optimization processing to be performed.

  • Patent number: 9622267
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices are provided for protecting a multiuser (MU) transmission between an access point and a plurality of wireless stations. The access point may transmit a frame that is addressed to multiple stations in a wireless network. Each of the stations addressed by the frame may respond with an identical clear-to-send frame. In some instances, the clear-to-send frames transmitted by each wireless station may utilize the same scrambling code utilized by the frame transmitted by the access point, use the same modulation and coding scheme, and/or occupy the same frequency bands such that the multiple clear-to-send frames are combined in the air and detected as a single frame by the access point. In some instances, the access point may thereafter transmit an uplink reference frame to trigger the wireless stations to transmit an uplink data request frame to the access point.

  • Patent number: 9614606
Abstract: While a user equipment (UE) is in a connected mode, the UE may receive only a limited quantity of data. During this phase, a receive diversity configuration may not be enabled, in an effort to conserve power on the UE side. However, in marginal signal conditions and a poor radio environment, downlink performance at the UE side may be enhanced by enabling receive diversity, irrespective of the limited data received by the UE. However, while receive diversity may improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at the UE end in marginal signal conditions, the UE may also incur a penalty on power consumption. Therefore, certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for dynamically controlling the receive diversity of a wireless device to improve the downlink procedure performance, while minimizing power consumption due to the usage of a second receive chain when in connected mode.

Abstract: We show that for any given muting fraction, a more constrained version of the problem of interest can be optimally solved in an efficient manner. In addition, the obtained solution is also a near-optimal solution for the original problem (for the given muting ratio). This allows us provide an algorithm that offers a good solution to the original problem with a tractable complexity. We also derive a lower complexity greedy that offers good performance and a certain worst-case performance guarantee. Simulations over an example LTE HetNet topology reveal the superior performance of the proposed algorithms and underscore the benefits of jointly exploiting partial muting of the macro and load balancing.
