Abstract: Aromatic polyesters and polyestercarbonates based on diphenols and iso- and/or terephthalic acids become flame-proof if admixed with small quantities of ammonium or alkali metal salts of inorganic or organic acids and optionally halophthalimides and optionally polytetrafluoroethylene. The mechanical and chemical properties of the polyester (carbonates) remain unchanged.

Abstract: A novel 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl substituted nitrogen heterocyclic ring compound is provided which is useful as a stabilizer for organic polymers. Organic polymers containing the novel 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl substituted nitrogen heterocyclic ring compound exhibit improved resistance to deterioration induced by light, by heat or by a combination of light and heat. The novel 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl substituted nitrogen heterocyclic ring compound is prepared by a novel method comprising the step of reacting 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl substituted 1,2-aliphatic diamine with a monoaldehyde or dialdehyde.

Abstract: Alkylated 1,1'-biphenyl-2,2'diyl phosphites are prepared by reacting alkylated 2,2'-biphenol with phosphorus trichloride in an organic solvent and then reacting the intermediate with an alcohol or thiol. Said phosphites are useful as stabilizers of organic polymers and lubricating oils, especially as process stabilizers for polyolefins, elastomers, polyesters and polycarbonates.
