    Abstract: A system whereby a disabling spike strip is deployed from the rear undercarriage of a vehicle is enabled by a dashboard-mounted switch powered by the vehicle electrical system. The undersides of the main body and each extension are provided with a plurality of skid pads. The spike strip further comprises front and rear stabilizer bars. The purpose of the pads and the stabilizers are to retain the location of the spike strip against the pavement and against the action of a trailing vehicle's wheels. The top portion of the spike strip comprises a plurality of fixed and spring-loaded spikes being designed to shred the tires of the trailing vehicle.

    Abstract: A paving machine that moves in a travel direction and spreads, levels and finishes concrete into a form having a generally upwardly exposed, finished concrete surface that terminates in lateral sides. The paving machine has a main frame with first and second bolsters arranged at opposite ends of the main frame. Each set of bolsters has two hydraulic jacking columns used to raise and lower the machine frame. Crawlers attached to the bottom of the jacking columns engage the ground and move the paving machine in the travel direction. A pair of support beams is attached to the inner surface of each bolster and supported in passageways of a center module of the tractor frame. To extend the maximum width of the paving machine without having to extensively disassemble it, the free ends of the support beams extend beyond outer sides of the bolsters when the distance between the inner sides of the bolsters is at its minimum.

    Abstract: A method of cold in-place recycling of asphalt to remediate distressed roads. Asphalt particles obtained by milling the existing asphalt are limited by screening to a maximum size of about one inch length. Asphalt particle size may be established by limiting tooth spacing of the road milling equipment milling head to about 5/16 inch or 8 millimeter spacing intervals. A predetermined proportion of portland cement, water, and asphalt emulsion are added to generated asphalt particles. Portland cement may be deposited onto the existing asphalt prior to milling. The resulting combination is mixed to generate a recycled mix, which may then be discharged onto the road being remediated and further processed, such as by screeding, compacting, and sealing.
