  • Patent number: 10492902
Abstract: The embodied invention is a nipple implant made from silicon and designed to be well anchored in position by attaching it to the skin of the patient. The implant includes support arms suitable for attachment to the underside of the dermis skin layer using sutures. An outer ring provides stability to the attaching arms and adds additional surfaces that will be surrounded by scar tissue to provide additional location stability. The nipple implant includes a center receptacle that secures a skin elevating plug that provides a skin protrusion. The plug is replaceable with an additional surgery to provide a gradual increase in the skin protrusion over a period of months. The area around the implant is tattooed to provide visual coloring that matches the natural areola shape and color.

  • Patent number: 10478298
Abstract: A method of preventing paravalvular leakage includes concurrent delivery of a heart valve prosthesis and an annular sealing component. During delivery, the sealing component is moved from a first position to a second position of the heart valve prosthesis which is longitudinally spaced apart from the first position of the heart valve prosthesis. The sealing component is secured around the heart valve prosthesis at the second position by a contoured outer surface of the heart valve prosthesis. The sealing component may be a flexible ring or may be a cylindrical flexible sleeve having a plurality of ribs longitudinally extending over the cylindrical sleeve. The ribs operate to deploy the sealing component such that at least a portion of the cylindrical sleeve buckles outwardly away from the outer surface of the heart valve prosthesis.

  • Patent number: 10456143
Abstract: A prosthesis may have an articulating component formed via casting and a 3D printed bone anchoring component with a joint-facing side and a bone-facing side. The bone-facing side may have a bone engagement surface with a porous structure with pores selected to facilitate in-growth of the bone into the pores. The bone facing side may further have a surface layer of Titanium Dioxide nanotubes. The joint-facing side may be secured to the articulating component by melting Titanium nanoparticles at a temperature below the melting temperatures of the major constituents of the articulating component and/or the bone anchoring component, such as Cobalt, Chromium, and/or Titanium, so as to avoid significantly modifying the crystalline structures of the articulating component and/or the bone anchoring component. The melting temperature of the Titanium nanoparticles may be about 500Ā° C.

  • Patent number: 10456249
Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve includes a collapsible and expandable stent with a valve assembly disposed therein. A first cuff is positioned on the lumenal or ablumenal surface of the stent. A second cuff is positioned radially outward of the stent and the first cuff. The second cuff may include apertures that allow blood to pass through the second cuff into the spaces between the first and second cuffs. The second cuff may include a proximal edge with a plurality of notches that may be closed to create puckered areas in the second cuff to facilitate the movement of blood in the spaces between the first and second cuffs. The stent may include struts adjacent the second cuff that bow radially inwardly to create additional space for blood to flow in the spaces between the first and second cuffs.

  • Patent number: 10357361
Abstract: Pinch devices and access systems that can be used to secure a prosthetic heart valve to a heart valve annulus and to treat valvular insufficiency. A pinch device can be a separate expandable element from the prosthetic heart valve that is first advanced to the annulus and deployed, after which an expandable prosthetic heart valve can be advanced to within the annulus and deployed. The two elements can clamp/pinch the heart valve leaflets to hold the prosthetic heart valve in place. The pinch device can have a flexible, expandable annular frame. A combined delivery system can deliver the pinch device and prosthetic heart valve with just a single access point and aid more accurate coaxial deployment. The pinch device can be mounted near distal end of an access sheath, and a catheter for delivering the prosthetic heart valve can be passed through a lumen of the same access sheath.

  • Patent number: 10307189
Abstract: A prosthetic joint is secured to the bones forming the original joint by utilizing strictly mechanical fasteners, for example, a threaded rod engaging a tapped intramedullary canal. Cross locking members may be provided. The need for bone cement is avoided. The prosthetic joint may be used to replace one end of one bone forming the joint, utilizing the naturally occurring end of the other bone. Alternatively, both bone ends may be replaced with prosthetic joint portions. The decision to replace one or both bone ends may be made mid-surgery. The prosthetic joint portions are secured together utilizing ligament reconstruction members made from portions of the patient's tendons or allograft tendons. A bearing forming the interface between the two joint portions is designed to wear in order to protect the remaining components from wear, and to be easily replaced in relatively simple future surgeries.
