  • Patent number: 9204329
Abstract: Control Plane and User plane packet data are collected within the Radio Access Network using a plurality of network devices. Consolidation and summarization of this information is then performed to present a unified picture of RAN through abstract APIs to management and analytics applications. The invention identifies methods of retaining the collected network data, such as control and application protocol headers at the collection points, and consolidation and exporting this network data to management/reporting/analytics application using application driven rules for consolidation and summarization. Real-time statistical analysis tools, which may be used to predict failure and degradation trends and proactively control the underlying causes, are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9178751
Abstract: There is provided a system and method for resilient routing based on a multi-channel model for emergency management. The system includes a packet delivery anomaly detector for determining an existence of an anomaly in a mandated routing infrastructure for a packet that renders the packet incapable of reaching a destination node designated for the packet through the mandated routing infrastructure. The system further includes a dynamic alternate route identifier for dynamically identifying alternate routes for the packet responsive to a determination of the existence of the anomaly. The alternate routes are outside the mandated routing infrastructure, are provided using one or more mobile devices external to and not part of the mandated routing infrastructure, and are dynamically identified responsive to at least geographic location information. The system also includes a wireless transmitter for wirelessly routing the packet using at least one of the alternate routes.

  • Patent number: 9172603
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a non-transitory machine readable medium of a controller of a network control system for configuring a wide area network (WAN) optimizer instance to implement a WAN optimizer for a logical network. The controller receives a configuration for the WAN optimizer to optimize network data from the logical network for transmission to another WAN optimizer. The controller identifies several other controllers in the network control system on which to implement the logical network. The controller distributes the configuration for implementation on the WAN optimizer.

  • Patent number: 9100321
Abstract: An appropriate quality of service policy is automatically selected as a function of network and business conditions. A current loading condition of an internet protocol network of devices operating, a current condition of radio frequency communications between wireless devices, and a current business condition that indicates a cost or availability of a resource used in device operation remotely controlled via data packet communications, are each determined under current network control and routing rules. If the resource cost or availability exceeds a specified market condition constraint, a special resource control rule is automatically selected to preempt a current network or routing rule to cause one or more of the internet protocol devices to reduce an amount of the resource used or distributed by the first internet protocol device while operating within the current determined internet protocol network loading and radio frequency communications conditions.

  • Patent number: 9060352
Abstract: Techniques are provided for selecting channels for use by access points operating in a wireless local area network. Metrics are computed for at least one set of radio frequency (RF) channels, wherein the set of RF channels comprises at least two RF channels in a frequency band that are available for use by a wireless network for a wider bandwidth mode that combines bandwidth of two or more RF channels. Alignment of individual primary and secondary RF channels is determined in the set of RF channels for operation of at least first and second wireless networks. A bias is applied to the metrics for each RF channel that is a member of the set of RF channels for the primary channel depending on alignment of the primary and secondary channels of the respective first and second wireless networks to produce adjusted metrics, based on which RF channels are assigned.

  • Patent number: 8995330
Abstract: A base station generates first setting information commonly used for establishing a logical path for communication with a user apparatus and for establishing a logical path for communication with a relay station, and second setting information used only for establishing the logical path for communication with the relay station, and transmits a second RRC message including the second setting information to the relay station after transmitting a first RRC message including the first setting information to the relay station. The first setting information includes information indicating a priority of a radio bearer in the logical path, information indicating usage of resources in SPS, information indicating resources of SRS, configuration information in a MAC sublayer, and information on change of a security encryption key in handover, and the second setting information includes at least system information and MBSFN information.

  • Patent number: 8982842
Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring 3G/4G handovers in telecommunication networks are described. In some embodiments, a method may include receiving a plurality of packets at a telecommunications monitoring system, the plurality of packets including a first packet following a first version of a protocol and a second packet following a second version of the protocol. The method may also include determining, via the a telecommunications monitoring system, that the first packet belongs to a first communication session that is correlated with a second communication session to which the second packet belongs. The method may further include using the telecommunications monitoring system to associate the first packet with the second packet in response to the determination.

  • Patent number: 8964777
Abstract: In a radio communication system where a base station provides blank time slots to avoid inter-cell interference, a decrease in throughput by an excess or shortage of blank time slots is prevented. This invention relates to a radio system that avoids interference in cooperation between base stations by providing blank time slots by a (first) base station. Other (second) base stations detect the number of served terminals affected by interference from the first base station that sets blank time slots, calculate required blank time slots so that the number of required blank time slots will increase with an increase in the number of terminals located in cell edges, and send a notification of the required blank time slots to the first base station. The first base station determines whether system throughput is anticipated to improve, based on the above notifications, and adjusts the length of blank time slots.
